Not sure if this is any good to anyone but there is a company on ebay claiming to be able to repair the VP44 fuel pump that is ment to be unfixable.
Not sure of the link but here is the item number 120631033464 maybe worth a try I have a feeling it might only be the electrical side they can repair but
