Could Be The End Of My Truck

Well today i was all excited as i was going to have a go at fitting my winch bumper

HOWEVER when i finally removed the original front bumper and snapping all the bolts as they was rotten i found this

Both mounts are completely rotten as is the front panel

Its that bad the front panel has come away from the inside wheel arch and the battery moves up and down by about 4 inches moving the hole of the wheel arch inside the engine bay :twisted:

Looks to me that its to far gone to repair

Keep your eyes open people as there my be a winch bumper and 2.8 parts for sale

Could be an end to my off roading days as finances will not stretch to a new truck

That looks a bit serious, but can't it be replaced? I know less than nothing though! Hope you can fix it

That's alot of corrosion mate :shock:

but not the end of the world. If it's just the front mounts that are rotten it would only take less than a day to cut out and weld in a new panel and paint it up

Don't have any A series kicking around at the moment that I'm breaking or I'd have cut the panel out and posted off for you :cry:

Shoot Tom a PM, he's always got various Frontys lying around and if you send him a link to your post I'm sure he could cut out a decent repair panel for you, then you just need it welded in.

If you've already got the front body mounts unbolted to do the repair would be a good excuse to undo the rest and stick a body lift on at the same time :twisted:

Easy fix matey...shouldnt take more than a couple of hours, might even have a chunk of solid crossmember from another shell lurking...if you bring your winch bumper we'll get that on at the same time fella...

Let me know fella...will make a nice change to weld something thats easy to get to! :lol:

and i was gong to say if you had access to a mig welder i would do it no prob.

Having a bad run of things at the moment but this is my 3rd so hopefully no more bad luck for me

Luckily there is a solution and many help - thats what a forum is for!

Over here in Berlin is a guy who changes his campo a bit - parts from Frontera and engine from BMW! A lot can be done with the right tools, know-how and enthusiasm...
