MoT hitches?

I still haven't fixed or replaced the dash on my truck, and it suddenly occured to me that it's MoT time soon. Will the fact that the rev counter, speedo, fuel and temp gauges don't work, mean that its an instant failure?

You bet it needs those things -- Look At This

No so long as the abs light works as it should and the mileage can be read the rest is not part of the mot :wink:

Hi You should be fine for the mot as long as the abs light does not stay on it will be fine, also the handbrake warning light needs to come on and go off correctly, the speedo, ect is not checked at mot,

Lara passed her last MOT with no speedo cable, cos I'd dropped a gearbox on it and crushed it. Everything else worked though, but if the speedo isn't checked, then I fail to see how it could fail for temp, fuel or rev gauges.

Ive just had a word with a mot tester friend, the only thing testable on the dash board is the abs light [ the light just cant be on] other then that it can not fail if nothing works. [i was wrong about the handbreak light] Only thing is a diesel smoke test should be done at operating tempreture and the only way a tester can tell is by the tempreture guage so the tester will have to ask you if its ok to do a smoke test, just say yes and all will be fine. hope this is of some help John
