I got this arm today

When making these brackets for sidesteps/rock sliders

Was drilling the holes with a large workshop pillar drill and probably got a bit distracted after a while - all those holes.. Drill-bit got stuck and the work-piece spun around whacking my left thumb. After a night of little sleep I went to the hospital this morning where they found the outermost bone split down the middle and into the joint :-(

Four weeks with a cast, what to do?

Luckily I', left with one good arm for beers :-D

Excellent idea for a thread....can see this getting more posts than the "What did you do to your truck today" thread!

done that myself before with a pillar drill, not broke anything but it bleedin hurt...
gets more interesting when the workpiece starts spinning and then the drill bit snaps...kinda russian roulette as to where its gonna land or who its gonna hit!! :lol:

Mine gave me heart failure yesterday.
After doing the front wheel bearings, I jacked the rear up just off the ground and no more.
Did the greasing of the prop then adjusted the handbrake shoes then the cable.
Put all my tools away then................
Went to drive it out the driveway and nothing. No drive.
Took it out of gear, back into reverse and clutch up. Engine revved, but no drive.
Heart racing by now, cos i couldnt think what was wrong.
Then it struck me.
The back end was still on the jack.
IDIOT. Only been a mechanic for 34 years like.

I wasnt gonna tell anyone about it either. Have now.....
I'm ready for the slating.

It's impossible to post a piccy of the damage my fronty has done to me. Just picture in your minds an emotional jibbering wreck. God I miss my Patrol.
