advice needed on possible purchase

Postby Hammerheads29 on Sun Apr 25, 2010 9:32 am

Hi there,

Ive got the opportunity to buy a Fronty and wanted to ask the experts for some advice and to see if I alarm bells should be ringing!

The vehicle's a 3.2 V6, has just had a new head gasket ( should this be cause for concern?) Also, apparently it's had a new set of clocks fitted at 100K and the new clocks show 122K ( its in the service history apparently) Again, is this cause for concern and is the mileage high for an S Reg?

I know the fuel consumption won't be fantastic on this but, realistically, on a daily commute ( bit of motorway, bit of queuing at lights going through town etc ) what could I expect on 60 quids worth of fuel ( my Calibra V6 for example would give 300 miles on a full 60 litre tank.)

kind regards

Stephen

hi mate if it had new clocks fitted at 100k & the new ones are now showing 122k then its done a few miles :| can i ask what your going to pay for it cos im thinking that theres a few v6 frontys that come up on the car sales sites etc which dont seem to sell to quickly [ due to fuel consumption i guess] with considerably lower miles than the 1 your considering.
as for mpg i reckon by what ive read on the site your looking at approx 20mpg ish
WHY AINT I GOT AN ALL SINGING & ALL DANCING SIGNATURE LIKE BOXY & DRIFTY ?

i love my v6,

the tank on the v6 like all frontera's is an 80L tank, cost about £90 to fill, i get about 500 miles to a full tank,

head gasket just done, was that one or two of them,

clocks would have been changed because of a common problem on the B series, if the new clocks have not been fixed, then the same problem may reappear.
its a dry solder on the bord, mine has the problem, getting it fixed soon, well after bala, cost about £40 if you send them of, if it still has the original you could send that one of to get fixed,

im in the north west, if i am close enough give us a shout i will give a look over it with you if you want,

shoot me a pm
