Looking to buy a new fronty, but it has a noise

Hi, I am looking to buy a frontera sport.
I have found one ,it is L reg and up for £600.
I went to look at it and took it for a drive, when I got some speed up and changed into 3rd gear there was a definate whining noise which sounded like it was coming from the back, is it the diff?
If it is , is it fixable or does it need replacing?

600 is a lot for an L reg

I would leave alone as could be gearbox or diff.

You will get something a lot better for that money.

away i paid £400 for mine with 80k on the clock on a 97 there is plenty bargians out there .I saw a montery 3.1 mot failure on a rusty cross member for £350. shop about go on gumtree and that

pitty i just got rid of a 2.0 sport on a m-reg with offroad tyres for £275
