i only noticed yesterday that there is a little sticker on my dash board, saying that the mielage on the clocks should be considered inacurate,
what would be the reason for this would it be the dash has been replaced or the engine has been replaced , would there be anyway of finding out? i got the car cheap enuf for it not to bother me, was just curious,

Those stickers are usually put on by car dealers to cover their backs if its ever discovered that the mileage is incorrect after they have sold you the car...

would you assume that either engine or dash has been changed or would you think it was simply a dealer covering their back ,
i cant see any usual signs of a engine replacement, and the dash change would be anyones guess

I had this on my dashboard - when I bought my fronty from the garage. The milage was showing 2300, for a T reg!!! :shock:

They said it had been clocked, and had no service history. But I had a real good look round and the engine looked brand new, new radiator, new belts etc... and for the price it was it was a bargain.

However when I had paid, they then managed to find the service manual for it - and the previous owner had all the paperwork and it had actually had an engine rebuild from a place in Cardiff for £1,400 and was guarnateed for 12 months! I only paid £1,900 so well worth the money. :dance:

Only issue was the rocket cover gasket was leaking and the power steering pipe - which I had done under the 3 month warrenty.
Also the BIG one - was that it had actually only done 87,000 miles -

- the problem was that it had the new B model clocks - which I believe had issues - so I hear they tended to replace the clocks instead of repairing them. :roll:

Also the service history was spotless, up to 65,000 is was vauxhall dealer serviced and then every year at local garages.

So I would say, follow your nose - have a good look around! - dont judge a book by its cover!!

my wifes 206 had the same sticker, turned out that the place she had bought it from got it as a part ex. They stated that because of that along with a lack of previous MOT's they couldn't guarentee (sorry thats one of the (many) words i can't spell even when i'm sober) the mileage. She's had it for 6 years and apart from brake pads and a couple of exhaust sections it's never let us down.

But then it could just be a simple replacement dash or engine. personally if the thing looks ok, runs alright, stops and tracks straight and there isn't a big birdpoo weld across the bottom I wouldn't be too worried by a sticker. Everyday driving will show if there is something amiss. Like they say "if it doesnt feel right, then it probably isn't"

as i say i got it cheap enough for it not to bother me either way it starts everytime 1st time, ticks over a bit lumpy, but runs fine and is pretty fast for a tank, i only use it as a off road toy grenlaning and play days so mielage really dosent bother me, clocks show 156,000 , its got 11months mot so cant be anything too wrong with it, cheers guys,
