post count????

right guys just logged on and noticed that me post count is not what it was :shock:

as in a lot less !! whats all that about ?? any ideas anyone??

servers cleaned of redundant posts possibly.....................sure admin will point you in the right direction

I know Admin are having a bit of a tidy up of the site so you properly lost some posts in the tidying up process :wink:

Hi peeps,Smurf with a Broom here,it was probably me as I have cleared near on 1000 posts out in the last 24 hours,as Rich say`s we will ALL suffer from reduced post counts (that includes all Admin & Mods) at the moment my post count is 12,580 watch it from time to time over the next month or so,it will go up as I make new posts & down as I clean out deadwood.Contrary to the beliefs of some members this is not aimed at anybody in particular,it is an attempt to get the forum running faster.

Basically we have a free server very very kindly donated to us and we do not want to take the pee and have the site over bloated taking up space on his servers.

By the way this doesnt mean you need to stop contributing, just we will be removing irrelevant posts in the techi sections and other area as you will understand so we can keep those areas clean and informative and free of chit chat.

General discussion area is still as it was, motor related stuff and serious stuff.

The Lounge......well, lets say..its the lounge :lol:

enjoy it and carry on as normal. :dance:

The For Sale section will be kept clean as we have had reports from sellers thinking they may have sold something and finding a lot of chit chat in their thread, something we are all guilty of at some point, so we will be trying to keep abreast of that and bumping off irrelevant posts in those threads.

Just a reminder, when a person gets a PM they get an email notification and a Board notification so it will be clear to them when they have a PM, if its been read it will not be in your PM out Box.
Thus telling them on the Board they have a PM is pointless and makes the pages longer and less navigable to those with slower download speeds and also spreads the threads out over many pages, which we know from feedback a lot of people new to a thread cant be bothered trawling through 4 pages of rubbish so the OP (Original Poster) could actually loose out.

Could we also request when ever possible that members who are breaking cars try their best to list the parts they have or at least list the parts the have sold or no longer have, I know its a tall order but it could save everyone plus the seller time and hopes.

This is all to keep things tidy and searchable and ultimately provide a better and more efficient service to all at FOG.

Again we hope you understand.

Who cares about post count anyway....its QUALITY thats important, not QUANTITY surely???

So long as you hit the 50 mark so you can sell a motor if you wanna, it really doesnt matter what your post count is...gets on my t1ts when people post utter rubbish to try and increase there postcount when it really doesnt matter at all... :twisted:

It wouldnt bother me if postcount wasnt visable on everyones profile, I pay more attention to members whose content is normally interesting/helpful/useful than considering a member by their post count...

A new members useful thoughts, with only a post count of only 10, are far more valuable than some misguided remarks by someone with a huge postcount and matching ego...

Quality not quantity my friends...who gives a hoot how many times you have posted...
...the true measure is...
...how many members ask after you when you havent posted for a week...
...or how many members pm you for your advice as they value it based upon your posts they have read....
...or how many of your threads are in the hall of fame...
then you know your posts are valued, a far more important measure than postcount!!! :wink:

So dont worry if the tidying of the site effects your post count...
...dont try and get it back up by posting nothingnesses for the sake of it in the meaningless threads...
...just enjoy learning and giving what you can to the discussions...post count really doesnt matter...in fact I honestly dont have a clue what mine is, it was a couple of thousand a few months back i think, but I honestly dont have a clue without looking or care...

Enjoy foggers and do memorable posts not postcount building ones!!!
