bought a vortex generator off fleabay and fitted it last night into airintake pipe has made the frontera more responsive better accleration dont think topend has improved but seems to of ironed out flat spot at low revs and quicker off mark was wondering if anyone else had used them and if they felt it had improved the performance of their motor cheers Lee

99p + postage I would presume? They do nothing at all - it's like the ebay resistor mod. Lesson learnt though huh

well when the vents were set to 90 degree the airflow was so restricted that i could only start it by squeezing the throttle pedal so opened the vents back up to 45 degrees ish and now starts on its own was worth a try and like you said lesson learnt think a will save up for a k&n induction kit cheers Lee

suppose other option is take off the 8v head stick a 16 v on it remove the injection system and stick a set of twin 40's on but again its all comes down to money and I can't seem to find anyone that does software for remapping the ecu on a 8v engine suppose the starchip route would work but dont fancy screwing up the ecu by my bad soldering cheers Lee

There are mobile guys that'll remap an 8v happily but finding one who isn't a cowboy would be nigh on impossible. The webbers are a good idea but you gotta remember, it's a big ole Frontera, not a wee Astra GTE

I was interested in a Hiclone or two as my 2.8 Tdi would need two they reckon. Then the dmf went. Any one tried them? They look more thought out and better made than these things. Though I think first a K&n filter and less bends in the air intake would help as would a better flowing exhaust. But first the dmf as there's not much point if the engine & g/box dont connect. Whan I was young i converted my Morris 1000 van to a Riley head with twin carbs but before I fitted it I got a mate to smooth out the differences where the inlet and outlets met the manifolds so that they lined up to the size of the holes in the gasket. There was a lot of difference and I kept breaking wheel studs taking on Midgets & Sprites off the lights.

Hiclone is just more snake oil, anything in the way of you filter and intake is just that..in the way, causing an unnecessary obstruction to the air. Only two things should be there, a turbo or supercharger. None of these cheap wonder products work or have been proven to work, if they are so good and cheap wouldnt you think the manufactures would use them

well seems like i started a hot topic on this one porting and gasflowing had never even entered my head but as per my second post it all comes down to how much spare cash you have got to really improve the performance of your motor which i dont have so think i will settle for a K&N induction kit in the near future unless i stumble across a bargain many thanks for all the info greatly appriceated and helpful cheers Lee
