'Facelift' Frontera A

I've been trying to find information on this but come up empty so far (probably searching for the wrong terms!)

Would I be right in saying there are 3 'models' of Frontera:

Frontera A
Frontera A 'facelift'
Frontera B

I know that mine is a Frontera A.. but as it has the more 'modern' interior/dash so I'm presuming it's a facelift version before the B came out 2 years later. Would I be right?

This confuses the heck out of me as well , there are A`s , A`s with coil rear suspension (2.8 LWB like mine), and then A`s with coil rear suspension and new shape dash , I think , oh and B`s .
I`m sure someone far more knowledable will be along soon .

yours would be the a series face lift model on coils they were intrduced i think around 97-98 on P & R regs

Yup yours is an "A series" facelift mate.
Introduced in 97 starting with a "P" reg.

Except I have leafs on the back... on a facelift R plate.

Doesn't seem to be any clear pattern or rule to the changeover

Yeah but you go by the dash design bud. It is unusual to see an R reg with leafs though. Coils were being fitted to late N reg motors.
Are you 100 % sure coz i dont think you are right?

Thanks for that though Drift - that does make it clearer. Are they hard and fast 'rules' then?

Yer thats pretty much definitive save a car being sat in a dealers for months/years not being sold and being registered later

Mine's July 1996, coil springs but old dash.
Looks like I'm on the "A" Team.

A series Leaf sprung: 1991 to 1994
A series Coil sprung: 1995 to 1998 with the facelift dash added in 1996
B series: 1999 to 2004. Minor face lift in 2003/4 which included headlights and front grill. Not sure about other changes.
