VAC Problems had to disconnect EGR

Well the smoke got toooooooo much and I have had to disconnect my egr valve :oh yer:

But in doing so I think that I have found the problem and that is the vacuum system :shock:

or the solinoide that connects to the egr :shock:

The reason for my thought; I did a specialy designed test :shock:

pulled the vac pipes off and put to my lipp's

Swerl valve vac pipe ok :dance:

Turbo vac pipe ok :dance:

EGR vac pipe very poor :cry:

So I disconnected the pipe leading to the EGR and gues what no more smoke :dance:

Now I know this is a very tempary measure as I am aware that if the EGR is blanked off for too long I will kill the cat.

so now the question is just to make sure is there any way of testing the soliniode as to it's function'ing

also I don't want to think about it but is there any way of testing the vac pump on the engine the break's are still normal i.e. still the same pressure but are there any other tel tail signs that I should know about

as per usual any advice would be very welcome

BUT I AM STILL IMPRESSED WITH HOW IT HANDLES IN THE SNOW AND ICE EVEN WITH THE EGR

Well done hipplew for perseverence and for keeping us updated and thanks for the link A friend.Our espace had problems in France this summer with terrible lack of power and we took it to a garage and it was the erg valve which they replaced.I still have the old one, completely coked up but I have yet to test the solenoid as it had three connections and I dont know which is positive and which is minus

I had a problem with brakes vac pump but it was an invisible crack in the pipe near the alternator not the vac pump itself and cost pennies to fix with hose tape but 4 days of angst,so if I can save you that....
