How Can I Increase My MPG please?

Hi All
I have a fronty 2L sport ...I am not sure how many miles she does to the gallon, but all I know is that she is thirsty ..
Is there anything I can do to increase my MPG please, I have thought about putting my road tyres on and taking out the back seats to lessen the weight any other suggestions please I would be grateful :dance:

smooth driving roo be gentle through the gears etc, make sure your tyres are inflated properly

Remove make up, and empty your handbag of all the c**p babe.

keeping the engine serviced helps.
but really it's just as Weave posted.

not carrying a full tank of fuel saves alot of weight, which also helps.

Im afraid an off road modified car is never going to be fuel efficient, just lifting the suspension costs fuel usage.

Loosing spotlights, bullbar under car protection and using as few electrical items as possible in the car all helps.

Also making sure none of the brakes are binding, other than that its a fiesta Im afraid :wink:

how about a lesson on how to drive properly from 1 of us far superior blokes

seriously roo it dont matter how easy i go with my right foot i still cant get any better than approx 25mpg although most of the time thats in town driving so not too bad really, infact thats not much less than my old mondeo used to do but all the extras add up over the month

You might want to get the fluids swapped out of the box and diffs, add some Molly to reduce drag. That and run round all the nipples with a grease gun :wink:

i think there are only 2 grease nipples on the fronty & there on the propshaft

Freewheel down hills i.e put it in nuetral do not use AC or have windows fully open. i get 23/25mpg on my sport but i ive in glasgow all hills and traffic and traffic lights. do not over brake or accelerater leave a gap between you and the car in front so you do not have to keep braking every two secs, avoid roads with speed bumps the stop go burns fuel

Car has been serviced and all fluids have been changed. Short of losing the interior, underbody protection, seats, bullbars, spots etc its about as efficient as its going to get.

Driving style is the single biggest factor to fuel consumption.

Driving and the fact its a 2.0 litre pulling 2 tonnes :wink:

I thought you would have researched fuel consumption prior to purchase & factored it into the buying choice,along with other major considerations :wink:
