I dunno if the title really makes any sense, but what I meant was....

things like tyres should be replaced in pairs, you know both fronts etc. I think its the same for brake discs and pads. What other bits should be replaced as pairs? I'm thinking to myself that if there is an identical part on the other side of the vehicle then it's going to be subjected to about the same amount of wear/abuse, so it would be wise to change both rather than take a chance that the "otherside" will survive. Or will the older component take any alteration in load due to its "twin" being new and healthy?

What got me thinking about this was from reading about lower ball joints/ cv joints / wheel bearings and the like, now there is a common link to them all being that they are all associated with either steering or suspension.

I was just wondering how other members of FOG approached these things, especially that our trucks are starting to get on now and with the abuse that some of them (the frontys not the members) had in the past bits and bobs are starting to fail.

hope that make a bit more sense than the title...

(i'm just pondering rather than doing..It's been a very slow day at work today)

Brakes and discs come in pairs and should always be fitted.
Others that should be done in pairs include:
Shock absorbers, Springs, Wheel cylinders, Wiper blades.

yeah thats the sort of thing that i was meaning, but they come as a pair. But what about, say, wheel bearings once one has gone the otherside will eventually fail..it's just a question of time. so why not replace both sides.
Things like discs if not replaced as a pair will result in un-even braking, and all other kind of tribulations like tyre wear.

hope you see where I coming from on this one, I know that it sounds like I'm a bit div but it's just they way my mind works when i get bored sometimes.

I do my wheel bearing as and when one goes singularly, I only get about 18 months out of them anyway with going off road :lol:
