Air compressor info

Well a while ago a neighbour said I could have his old compressor, well he got around to digging it out and handed it over today, for free :dance:

It seems ould but has only been used twice from new and that was to spray, its covered in paint :lol:

I plugged it in and if started and held air no problem, checked the oil that seemed a but low but above minimum.
The only thing I can find wrong is the hose has perished and needs replacing and a possible air filter missing?

Im not to well up on these things so any help and info gratefully received.

Machine mart overhaul them. Do a good job too. Also have the parts needed.

i think you can get spares for air master at machine mart?

Can you tell what power it is from the pics, what am I likely able to run with it, I know Ill need bigger for power tools .

Hard to say, did you get a sevice pack with it? Should have all the details on it with instructions.
Does look a bit light for airtools though, but ample for tyre inflation and spray tools.

Looks about the same size i got from aldi Ste and that runs my power tools co's they come from aldi too !!! :lol:

Its funny as I was looking at the power tools in Aldi yesterday... hmmmmm.

IT looks like the receiver is at least as big as an Aldi jobby so as long as the pressure is there it should run all their tools. Uprating the cut out so it adds more pressure to the reciever is easy as long as the reciever is rated high enough.

TBH it should be rated far higher, just worth checking. I will be doing it to mine shortly.

All though it is not a huge compressor it will run most low cfm air tools. You will have probs running stuff that is used continuosly like DA sanders,drills,grinders etc, but impact wrenchs, air rachets, air chisels which are used intermitantly should be ok.
Spraying might be a problem if you are doing more than a panel, as is quite air greedy, especially hvlp. Best bet is grab and old 47kg propane bottle and use it as a plug in resevior which your small compressor which charge (albiet running for a while), but that will then give a bigger window of air volume for painting.
Air filter on the intakes are normally only foam element anyway so are easily made..just make sure the element cant get sucked into the compressor.
Dont be tempted to use an auto oiler on it for you air tools if you are going to use it for spraying too as you will contaminate your airlines...just add airtool oil direct into your tools periodically.
Also drain the water in the tank regularly (drain plug on bottom of tank), drain air out first though or it will blow out the bung and then turn on compressor and run for a few mins to blow water out of the hole. Then turn off and refit bung. It is worth fitting a water trap to the air outlet of the compressor to prevent water getting into you paint and air lines/tools. Then fit a small secondary water trap near to your spray gun.

Looks to be about a 25 litre air capacity and at a guess Id estimate 1.5 horsepower compressor motor. Probably good for about 120psi.

Id say its about the same as mine, good for spraying and tyre inflating but runs out of air pretty quick when using proper power tools like air wrenches and impact guns or air saws etc.

Oh yeah, there are different sized connectors but for the life of me I have no idea what their names are.
