oh dear

Looked under the motor tonight as lost some oil pressure today ... looks like the oil filter might have come a bit loose looking at the residue around the seal(new one) so gonna get someone to tighten it propperly tomorrow. However noticed the rear diff was wet , looks lie the rear diff plate has cracked/perished.

So is there anywhere I could get one from or should I just go straight to a vauxhall dealer? Just read the post on "how to do it", also. Seems a farely straight forward job even for a novice :roll:

VX are the best bet for the rear diff.

Get a rag or rubber clove on and give the filter a bit of a turn, its common for them to come loose if not tightened enough. :wink:

Oil filter is normally .... lubricate the seal with oil & spin on until it touch`s the base then plus 1/4 turn :wink:

Crivens! That Diff Plate looks a little worse for wear. If you decide to remove any of the rust beware that it may be quite thin and you could put a hole in it. New diff plates are about £50 from vauxhall.

May just need resealing and hammeriting.

cheers seen drifts post on how to do it and he put price there also, me thinks his is defo not a job to buy econd hand parts from lol, just need to get some hammerite to paint the new one with

just had a new rear diff plate on mine - quite relieved to know it was only that what was leaking.
annoyingly common fault though by the sounds of it.

i can confirm that the part was approx £50 from main dealer

Not a common fault as such, its just that the plate is made of steel and most are 10+ years old now with little or no preventative maintenance performed on them.
