which one ?

which one ?

Postby MuddyD on Mon May 18, 2009 10:07 pm

Just read the help topic on how to lift the truck... a little confused now ???

how do I know which one I have, is it a late series A or a series B model I have ?? Mine is a 98/R reg 2.2i ecotec petrol/manual LWB. It has coils on the rear not leafie's.

Also to give maybe a 2" lift do I just need to buy coils or coils and some shocks too / as i'll upgrading in the future to a set of either 31" or maybe 32" tyres (more than likely the 1st one) or as I will mainly be using it as my everyday driver wth the odd pay and play day plus maybe the green lane trip with some of you on here (hopefully) do I not really need to worry about the lift as the car will take 31's easliy in standard ride height ?

Regards
24 beers in a case, 24 hrs in a day...... coincidence ???

Yours is a late A series with the face lift dash mate. They finished in 98 and the B series starts on S plate.
For a lift you can get add ons for the coils i believe, but most buy longer coils and longer shockers.
Hope that helps.
Regards, Keith.

The suspension lift is to gain ground clearance for your body and engine and gearbox areas and helps get bigger tyres under the car, the bigger tyres allow you to also raise the diff area on the axle an inch or so depending on the size of the tyres.
The lift helps when driving through ruts and bumpy ground, you will bottom out less and also many find it improves the handling with a stiffer ride as opposed to a wallowing ride.

You can get away with standard shocks on anything under 2" but if your doing a fair bit off road dont expect to much life out of those shocks, uprated and slightly longer shocks will also be a bit stiffer and more up to the job than the standard shocks, you might as well change them all at once and be done with it.

See here for shock and coil options, plenty to choose and some links to sellers.
