my new frontie is off for the mot at 430 tomorrow as i wont be able to tax it till i get home the post office will be shut will i be able to do it online even though i only have the little green bit of the log book,i understand you get five days grace until the new disk arrives

No you cant do it at home as it may not be processed at the DVLA I tried this when I changed Lee's car.

Might be worth a try though, thinking about it as you might be lucky and it has been processed and the doc's are in the post.

be careful though, because if the details haven't changed, the tax disc goes to the address on the log book...

if the garage you had the mot at is directly link to the dvla you should be able to tax it online

drive the car anyway the tax disc will be dated from the 1st april . so you will have paid for the couple of days you will not have the disc .my mate done the same thing and the cops let him away with not having tax ,technically you have got tax. if you see what i mean .

this is a no and its a big no, as when you tax it on line they ask for the code from the front page of the log book, or the code of the reminder, the code is not on the small retaning section, that is passed on to the new owner

safer option is to do it at the post office on wednesday,i just wanted to drive it straight away

Sorry bud, but Weds looks like the only sure way. I always do online, but its a pain without V5 or reminder, tried all sorts of wrangling on phone etc, but no joy.

Wouldnt get pulled, a copper wouldnt be bothered, they would run the plate before the pull and see its covered, the computer doesnt know its in the post. The trouble is he cant get the disc ordered online without the right numbers to punch in.

Just a thought ..... would the details of the 'change of owner' be up dated on the DVLA computer, not sure how long they take to be put on there..
