New Stereo

Looking to get a new CD/MP3 Stereo in a week or so. Bewildered with the vast array of configurations. I think that I would like to have both USB and SD slots, not sure whether bluetooth is worth the extra price premium? Looking to spend £100 top.

Does anyone have any recommendations or any experiences of any of the latest systems which they could share with me?

Halfords were doin one for about 170 with a 7" screen that took usb and sd cards but not sure if they still are, but might be worth a look.

Very much depends how long you're in the car for, whether you actually listen more to cd/mp3 or the radio and will you even use the multitude of facilities or gadgets that are available.
If it's mp3s then a cd reading one may well be enough, or a dvd reading one at 4.7Gb each is an awful lot of tracks on one disk alone.
Aux audio in may be enough, maybe with an ipod connector, or a simple lead to any player.
I recently got a motorised monitor unit that does just about everything, ipod, usb, sd, dvd, tv etc etc etc, but realistically, with a dose of hindsight, it's only the radio i use more than anything, and the aux in for an ipod controller. The rest is nice to point at and play with yet rarely, if ever actually used as all the different multimedia input is all good and well but how many different ways do you really need to do the same job?

That aside i'd stick with the main names, jvc, kenwwod, sony etc are all listed on the site you mention at well under £100 which may not list as many goodies as the lesser known and often chinese brands, but will be of a known quality and durability.

I just bought and fitted a MURPHY CD-7506MP3 which only cost me £22 from Littlewoods and a tenner for the right ISO connector.
46 Long tracks( 6 mins + ) and still room for more on one disc in MP3 Format.
Oh Yeah! and it's Bl**dy LOUD!!!
You don't need to spend a fortune just for some little toe-rag to steal it from you.
As long as it plays your music loud enough to drown out the engine noise, What more do you need. :lol:

Halfrauds are doing a Sony bluetooth stereo for about £120 at the moment, which will connect up to 9 phones to it (no idea why you'd want that many!), as well as having a usb port on the front for flash drives, and supports MP3 disks as well. The missus has got one in her motor and it's a good stereo for the money

i use one with a usb port and memory stick fronteras bounce lots off road so cds are no use cost about £80 five months ago from halfrauds with remote works great

Either usb or sd a must. Both of mine have the cheap Halfords cd/usb/sd/input etc player. Shove a dozen albums on an sd and the tracks wont jump however hard you off road

Had a sony cd head unit in the LWB, any sort of bumpy track and it soon gave up.
