Should i pay or should i protest?

Heres the thing im currently over in spain drove here in my fronty back in november 08, now 3weeks ago i took the truck to Opel because of lack of power from my turbo and something wasnt quite right with the oil.
I paid 123euros for a visual check and an oil change, opel told me there was nothing wrong, no oil leaks etc. Until 2weeks later i noticed that there was oil leaking from under the truck, guess what its back in the garage!

600euros to fix 4 leaks?? when they assured me after the oil change there was nothing wrong, heres a thing should i pay up to release my fronty or Protest?

Hello mate

Gutted for you firstly!! I think you should protest. You should at least get your money back for the first visit to the garage
because they did not diagnose the leaks the first time round and then maybe push your luck for a goodwill gesture discount
on the final bill with garantee on parts and labour. Good luck

More than likely they will tell you the leaks weren't there the first time around and get out of it that way, still worth a grumble and mentioning not using them again.

protest garages are a joke the prices they charge n wont accept wen they wrong

Hmm not an easy decision here, at the end of the day its ur word againts theirs and being in a different country not sure whose side the law would be on, but hey we are in Europe, so there might be a chance of you getting some if not all your money back in the first place.. But dont burn your bridges at both ends, if you see what I mean... not sure how you'd get on being in another country, but I guess you could take up the problem with the manager, think you'll find that they will stick to their guns, and argue with you, not sure if Spain has its own trade an standards like they do over here, but get the managers name the garage, as much info as you can about the garage etc, and if you still have no joy, you could always ring up Vauxhall/ Opel garages in the Uk and see if they could help you out in anyway..
Doesn't your insurance cover you as your abroad?

Hi, yeah ive had to get a green card insurance from direct line. I have sent a few emails of to vauxhall already explaining the situation im in over here, and they have said to me that i should at least get the 123euros i spent the first time around back.
But i will see as its a public holiday over here, shop/garage opening times out here are different, thankyou for all your comments and suggestions.

lets hope my fronty will be alive and kicking again. i am off for a :drink:

well i am still waiting for a reply from opel about the discount i should get, as they ballsed up in the first place on my fronty. Hey Roo as you asked the spanish customer service out here is non existant so i have had to call in back up ie my future father inlaw, he has an account with opel and basicly it was a spanish show down. no more news as of yet, but all i can say is my fronty aka Robin is missing this:

such a shame there are some awesome places out here to go off-roading and today would have been perfect, yes it is snowing in spain we are central just outside Madrid its 8inches deep. Will keep on updating you on the Frontera issue.

Just a quick update on how my fronty is doing, well it is still in the opel garage they have fixed all new parts they needed to mend the 4 oil leaks they found. but are keeping my truck for another week to make sure that there is no more leaks from the engine bay, i am soooooooooooo missing my truck

cant wait to have it back.

well, as for the back up from my father inlaw we havent been able to get any sort of compensation back from opel for their cock ups, so i have had to grin and pay up the 600euros for the work done. certainly wont be using them again in the near future :!:

At least the works done so in the mean time have a few :drink:

sorry i aint had time to reply back to your post Roo been away in Malaga and sevilla with a mate, anyway got back about a day ago and was so expecting my Fronty to be ready for me to collect how wrong i was.............! my partner decides to tell me that they are going to keep it in for another 2weeks to fix the viscous fan (the plastic bit) that i destroyed and subsequently it destroyed my rad back in the uk on salisbury Plain, and yes i did drive 2500miles to Madrid without a proper working fan but, had just enough money to get a rad from a 2.3td lol.

So Opel are keeping it in to do the fan thing, which has been paid for by my partners dad only to be told that he has decided to put new tyres on aswell not the ones i want which are AT's but bloody road tyres! GRRRRRR :evil:

i have managed to get opel to swap them for 50/50 tyres at no extra cost.

Im sure pretty much everyone on here knows what there fronties needs are, dont trust any1 in europe land esp OPEL :evil:

Got ya Pm i aint offended ive been thinking that for quite sometime now since the truck is in the opel garage, well the good news is i get my fronty back on tuesday

but and this is a BIG BUT, yesterday i was fuming when my partner told me that opel had to wait for a "Special Tool" to fix a pipe onto the turbo and guess what that special tool is a torx set!!! which i have in the glove compartment how embarrasing for opel :oops:

instead of asking me if i have this tool kit they have to wait until monday when the mechanics (ageny 1s) come back to work.

At this point i have completely lost my temper with opel :evil:

, so when i pick up the truck on tuesday

im going to get hold off all the so called bits they have had to replace and hand them into vauxhall on my return to british soil. All i know is that they have replaced the turbo, all connecting pipes, the seal for the sump (somewhat bemused by what seal?) the viscous fan (plastic bit) and replaced a part for the 4 oil leaks they have should have detected the 1st time around.

All i want is my fronty back,
