petrol leakwell i managed to have a look at the petrol pipes this weekend , and there is a leak somewhere on the system . the pipes are badly corroded ,also if you look under the wheel arch by the petrol tank there is a large damp patch from the filler point to the edge of the arch . going towards the middle of the car . can you buy the pipes already made up
Re: petrol leakHas the fuel tank recall been done on your car ?
If not, you might be able to get a lot of the work done for free. I'm not sure how long the safety recall lasts. If there is a load of thermal blanketing around the tank, then yours has been done. Mark
Re: petrol leakHave you recently filled the tank?
The short (rubber) vent hose from the filler pipe into the top of the tank splits and allows fuel to leak when you fill the tank up. Its different diameters at either end and I'm informed its "No longer serviced" by Vauxhall/Isuzu, I've been trying to find a replacement for ages and haven't found one intact yet. As this part failed regularly when Frontera was new (I personally brought the failures to Vauxhalls attention through their district service manager) I can't believe they have withdrawn it from sale. Re-calls generally expire after 2-5 years max. What have I told you about Thinking Erroll??
Re: petrol leakheres a picture
taken from the wheel arch , who do i have to get in touch with about the recall
Re: petrol leakI think Safety Recalls have a much longer life.
I did discuss general parts availability with a Vauxhall Dealer yesterday and he said it was still pretty good. I do recall having the Tank recall done in 1994 on my 93. From the pictures I've seen it looks like yours may not have had it done. However, thats not to say, it was done in the past, and someone has replaced the tank with an old one. The best thing to do is to get your Vin No and discuss it with a dealer to check it. It will do not harm. I've had Ford US Safety recalls done in the UK for a Mustang, many years after it was announced. Mark
