HHO?

I was wondering if anyone has used a HHO generator and if so what kind of results are you getting?
Should make for interesting research if nothing else.

There is a lengthy thread on here some where about that.

The simple physics of this idea make it impossible to achieve any positive results in my opinion.

Basically energy is a constant, so the energy contained in the produced HHO needs to come from somewhere, in this case the electricity passed through the system. The energy for the electrodes then needs to come from somewhere, in this case from the alternator of the car. The energy to make the alternator work needs o come from somewhere, in this case the engine turning the appariate belt. The energy for the engine to turn needs to come from somewhere, in this case the fuel that is fed into the engine.

So assuming you achieve the impossible and get a 100% efficient energy transfer at every stage of the process you will only get as much put back into the system as you get out of it. Unfortunately you will never achieve 100% efficiency as you will loose energy from heat and noise in all stages of the process and so it will reduce your fuel efficiency.

Personally I get the impression that this is a large case of snake oil, backup up by fake rumours concerning the invention of the system in the first place. The fact that most kits available commercially come with baking soda makes it even more suspicious as this will produce CO2 and not HHO (or more technically HHO2) which will kill your engine efficiency as you will be replacing the air flow into the system with a gas which inhibits ignition.

If you want i can give you the complex chemical explanation of how splitting water from 2xH2O into 4xH and 1xO2 will never produce as much energy from the H as you put into the reaction but it does get rather boring unless you are a chemistry buff (trust me, I have just had to sit through it form my other half :P)

I prefer Armadillos, crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle :P (so yes, I am old enough, or should I not admit that?)

In simple terms, it is a physical impossibility to get HHO systems working to actually produce a performance of economy increase :)

Not Really, if you consider that power stations pump out funominal amouts of electricity where does the SPARE go???..
as for HHO not working, it does work,,,!,,, WHY?... Because cold engines respond very well to sniffs of starter mixtures, try it on a cold morning,as for not getting out what you put in ,its FREE from the ALt anyway?..
You may not be able to run a car completely on it, but it will burn more effficiently and clean your engine as well..
Nearly blew my kitchen up once,LOUDEST BANG I have ever heard, it does work , it may only give 5-10 miles to the gallon more, but is FREE, from Water H2o to HH0 as there are 2 molecules of Hydrogen to 1 of QXYGEN, ask the nurse if you can smoke around that stuff. lol.

Unfortunately it is not free.

The energy to break the water down has to come from somewhere, in this case from your alternator.

The enery to make the alternator go round has to come from somewhere, in this case your engine.

The energy to make the engine go round has to come from somewhere, in this case petrol.

Now assuming that you have the perfect engine, alternator and HHO setup then you will only ever get out of te system what you put in.

Energy in all reactions is a constant, it does not reduce, it can NEVER increase wihtout another source of energy(basics of physics and chemistry taught at GCSE level). Apply A-level Chemistry or degree level knowledge then you know that all reactions are either Endothermic (absorb heat) or Exothermic (give out heat). In this case your reaction is Exothermic thus giving out energy in the form of heat as the bonds between the Hydrogen and Oxygen break down. This means that instantly you have an energy loss. Then apply basic physics of friction, resistance and the impossibility of the perfect transfer of energy without a loss in the form of heat or noise and you have another great loss of energy in the whole chain, thus meaning that any HHO generator will never be able to put more energy back into your engine than it takes out in the form of combustion of fuel.

Thus, your engine may run a little smoother, or be a little more powerful, but it will always come at the cost of your fuel economy, not to mention that engines were designed to take petrol, changing what you feed into it is unfortunately illegal in this country without qualifications and proper certified safety checks, hence no insurance if your company finds out, no MOT, oh, and the fact that you are producing an explosive substance (Hydrogen) in the presence of an ignition spark and risking not only your safety but that of the motorists around you.

Sorry for the rant but this is true snakeoil and always will be. It is a waste of time and money and a risk to others around you.

Hi guys, Having read the previous post, I do not get into slanging matches!!!!!!!.
Even since this post, the cars are going electric with hydrogen produceing the power as well.
It is the future and will remain on going till the next generation of cars comes out, after all a car life is not much beyond 15-20 years max these days.. Ford spent 5,000000 developing their first all hydrogen batteries car...
It will put the arabs back on camels.lol.
PS: the Fuel for the rocket engines is only water based ????.. Now there is a thought. Thats why they want water on MARS..
Time will tell.

think that means, you dont get far on £10 in a v6
