Lets be Honest now...

Sorry in advance for the length of the post!!

OK, lots of you know that Carl and Anna are no longer memebers of the forum. Some of you may even know that I made a complaint about the unproffessionalism of admin staff allowing ANYONE (incl spouse) to log in as them, as I see this as a very important role. These people have access to personal info and other important info, that if I wanted to tell everyone else, it shoud be my decision to tell them.

While mooching about on other forums, I see that Annamarie has been posting thngs about how hard done to she has been and laying all the blame on me, cheekychick this, cheekychick that.

Some of you have read these posts on other forums - I know, as I have seen your comments, and if you think that it is OK for someone to have access to a system that you have quite exclusive access to, then I think you need to consider what you are saying. Being an administrator is a very privileded role, and is the same as a network manager anywhere else. How would you fell if the IT guy at work allowed his wife access to your personal info - quite different I reckon. She evn says she knows it was me 'cause she saw it on his computer'

I am posting this in the general info section, because when Carl and Anna come to look on here as a guest I don't want then to miss this. I have nothing to hide, I am as you find me.

She has to be the singularly most antagonistic individual I have ever had to have to deal with. She is without doubt the RUDEST person I have ever had to communicate with, this is an open forum, everyone is able to read everything, therefore, as we are all adults we should all be able to understand and appreciate the impact our words may have on others. We all have opinions, and am in no way suggesting that we shouldn't post them, but there are ways and means of saying some things... A few of her 'gems' if you will...

As we ALL know, she is a 7 stone, size 8. The comment she made to one member about being a size xx and xx stone (I am not that rude to be so personal) would have had me in my car, on the way down south, it was outrageous!! The comment to PerfectPrincess accusing her of drinking the night before she was driving for work was unbelievable, well, actually not THAT unbelievable if you have spent more than a fortnight reading Anna's posts. The comment to me about being a careless driver when I posted early on in my FOG life about cars we've had. Yeah, I had a few cars, but I had to buy all my own cars as a kid, and if you had one that cost more than £200 and lasted longer than 6 months or so, it was a big thing, a bonus even!! Nothing to so with being careless, just a teenager that couldn't afford anything more reliable.

I could go on, but I won't. I am going to stop there. I would never make a posting making a personal dis at someone, and this post is not that, I have taken care to make this post as frank and factual as possible - merely defending myself, when I shouldn't even have to.

I hope that this post doesn't cause anyone any offence, but I WILL NOT have my name dragged through mud any where and keep schtum about it!!

As a bloke most things go over my head (now I'm being honest) I think Anna did hit send a few times without re reading and contemplating the implications and we all made allowances for her and she apologised after when people explained why. I'm sure in a few days etc when she calms down and thinks things over she will understand why the staff had no choice and why you were fully justified in your complaint.

Just to remind people that this place has an owner, he although priveliged by this is also ultimately responsible. A company director is at the end of the day legally the terminus of any legal procedings brought against the site. Data protection is very serious thing, the site and owner must be protected by the staff. If we could just remember this and leave personal issues alone it may help everybody understand why descisions have been made.

I agree with both of you regarding the points made.

To me, After spending numerous years as a Certificated Baliff, understanding the importance of the Data Protection Act is paramount. I had to know it inside out, back to front, before I could apply for my Licence. Then at regualr intervals I was retested on it.

Data protection Act covers ANY information weither BIG or Small and How it's stored, used and Distroyed.

On a Forum like this, even your I.P address is classed as Data, and must be stored, used and deleted/Destroyed in compliance with the Law.

Unfortunately, in the The Law of This Land, ANNA broke that law, and also to say, Carl did as well. It's his responsability to make sure that NO ONE, including his Spouse or Family Members has NO access to any privilaged information.

To be fair, It's not the First time ANNA has shot herself in the foot, but on other occassions thing have been left to lie, mostly because most of us on here know Anna has Learning Disabilities and take that into account.

I think, to be honest, Carls decision to leave the site was the right choice, his position as a Admin was compromised and to make matters worst, by backing Anna up he did nothing to protect his position. I understand why he had to take Anna's side, would'nt we all, if it was one of our partners.

But unfortunately, even now,Anna is still protesting her innocence on several other 4x4 forums, and has now started slating FOG.

No doubt, some time in the near future, one of our Senior (There all senior in age :wink:

) Admins will make a statement.

I can't post as the voice of the Administration team, but will do so as a member with Admin privileges.

As Administrators and Moderators of a forum that has in excess of 5000 members, with new members joining daily (38 this last week), we have a responsibility to keep the forums free of distractions to allow our members to access the information they require to keep their Fronteras on the road.

With a community of this size, it is inevitable that from a technical biased forum a social scene will emerge as members get together to swap parts, exchange ideas and arrange trips out. In any large group of people, issues will arise and when receiving a complaint the Forum Administrators have to act in the best interest of the forum members. Regarding this particular issue, a plan was put into place and accepted by those involved.

Personally, I was surprised at Carls later decision to leave and the method in which he chose to do so. I am also disappointed at the way Anna is behaving towards the Frontera Owners Group on other forums and the unsubstantiated personal attacks against Pete, this sites owner.

I am proud to be associated with FOG and being privileged to be an Administrator, will continue working with a dedicated team of volunteers to keep this forum a pleasant place to resolve Frontera technical issues and keep a modicum of social decorum.

i was at work when it all kicked off only discovered yesterday eve what had happened

i agree with lawrence's post above

i run a caravan forum and i have more security on that so its hard to even for me to get on it without 2 lots of password protection
my wife has her own laptop so there is no reason for her to use mine plus my laptop is password protected just to turn it on
so no one can use it

its a shame that carl has left but i can understand him supporting his wife i just wish him all the best for the future

thanks for the posts, at least people understand that this wasn't a personal thing, it was about the security.

I know that this wasn't the first time it had happened, and know that other people had been affected by posts that were made. I understand completely that she has learning difficulties, my sister does, but we've all been more than understanding, even people with difficulties have an appreciation of what is acceptable and what isn't, especially when the boundries have been pushed so many times before.

Lawrence, I totally agree with you, I was shocked to see Carl ask to leave, but he has to do what he feels he should do. However the postings on other websites from Anna is wrong, and I hope people will see it for what it is. It's unforgiveable to make personal attacks on people.

I dont kow the facts about what happened so can't comment.

All i know is, carl will be sorely missed as he has been a big supporter of fog for a long time. And poor Anna really does feel upset about what has happend.

At the end of the day, this is a forum for people who like fronty's and green laning / off roading. It's not some secret society and the info held by the admin is hardly life threatening if anyone got hold of it.

I mean, the goverment loses lots of really important info for the people of the uk and no-one kicks up as big a fuss as this.

I can understand cheeky chick feeling upset if she has had words with anna, i'm not disputing that.

I used to use fog a lot, then dissapeared for a bit due to health etc.. I have noticed since i started using the forum again that people seem a bit 'clicky' and not as relaxed. Maybe its the state of the country that has people feeling a bit 'edgey'. i dont know..???

Guess what i'm saying is, lets not forget that this is just a forum for a car, let people not get ideas above their station and live and let live...

And I agree, Carl will be missed, he was always first to reply to posts, even if he couldn't help, like a reassuring presence, but it was his decision to leave, lets not forget that, I know there are posts elsewhere saying it's a shame they were both banned, this is not the case, and well, I have to say it, she's always sorry... after the event.

Sorry Jonny, but I want to point out I have never 'had words' with Anna, anything she may post is like water off a ducks back to me, but thats not the case with everyone. This is not a personal thing as all, my grievance was purely about the security issue, I know what you're saying about it only being a forum about a car, but the fact she knows it was me as she 'saw it on Carls computer' is exactly the type of thing I'm talking about, she should not have access to that information, I might not have wanted her to know it was me. As it is I don't mind, but another person might have.

Hope you can come back on here more often, I'm sure you'll see it's not clicky, I think it's just that there are so many new people all the time, it's sometimes difficult to keep up with the million different directions threads go in, it usually confuses the heck outta me!! :lol:

I have to say that I have never found FOG 'cliquey' - of course there may be some ppl you feel more at ease with, and connect with more than others, but hey... that's life. :roll:

Sometimes we project inner feelings about ourselves onto other ppl/situations which can offer a distorted view of actual reality..........at the end of the day...if i felt that uncomfortable/disgruntled somewhere I would leave...we all have a choice here..... :lol:

now this is just my opinion yes i am admin on here and Pete's brother (site owner) as admin i would not allow my wife to access the admin panel its just not on wife or not

beside she thinks iam sad for spending to much time on here

i don't know what to make of this, other than personal info should be kept personal,

now whether it makes a difference, a while ago i asked for my account to be stopped and deleted, but admin being admin just suspended it. (thanks admin) :well done:

as i t made it easier to come back, i had a problem with a member and had to leave the site to sort it out,, which was easier than dragging it across the site,

Well if nothing else, its letting the rest of us air some feelings.

One sure thing is life goes on and in weeks, months we will all forget and move on. Lifes far too small to worry about whatever everyone else thinks about you.

The decision to remove anna from the forum for the 14 days was not taken lightly, all admin staff where involved in the final outcome even carl, whom i might add along with myself wanted to give Anna a perm ban, it was decided after the old wise owl aka "drifty" spoke in her defence that we would remove her for the 14 days, i personally sent Anna an email to explain why we had no other option but to ban her for that period.

Many of you might not know but this was not Anna's first warning but at the last count i think she had about 4 in total, all of which went unheeded.

After Anna's ban Carl allowed Anna to use his second account "me" to access the forum and certain areas which are not visable to normal members, this was challenged by myself and denied by carl, it later became clear that he had...hence carl asked to be removed from the site

being site owner and finally the one who is responsible for the site, i expect a certain amount of critism from members who for what ever reason feel FOG as done wrong by them, but what i dont expect is the personal attacks that members. former admin staff seem to post on other 4x4 forums , all of which are pure and utter lies, and the latest by Anna and carl have not gone un-noticed and are currently being dealt with.

We are the Frontera Owners Group are proud of what we have and what the site/forum as become, this as been made possible not only by the staff that give up there free time to keep the site running but also the members, without you we wouldnt be here..and for that i thank each and everyone of you

Im certain that we will once again pull through this, as we have done many times in the past...

As drift said , we will not allow any remarks on this forum that concerns anyone 4x4 website and im hoping that the owners of the forums which carl and Anna have made certain remarks, be it directed at me or at FOG will get removed..
