What speed am i doing?

Hi, im newly registered here so hi all

. I just bought a 1999 frontera 2.2 dti which has no speedo. having looked on the forum i can see its a common prob and will definitly have a bash at soldering, but in the mean time the rev counter does work soooo does anyone know what revs equal what speed? e.g 3rd gear 2000 revs 30mph or something along those lines drove it back form london with no speedo and it was a nightmare!! All i really need is what revs are 30mph and 50mph in which gear,can kinda gauge it from that as my work van has no rev counter i have no idea :roll:

Do you have a sat nav? that should help.

Unfortunatly not kinda ran out of money what with the car insurance and stuff..oh and my wife had a baby 13 days ago lol good times

Ok then in 5th gear 400 rpm per 10 mph.
The easy & safe method is to use 1000 rpm as 30 mph
so 1500 = 40
2000 = 50
2500 = 60
3000 = 70 ..........etc
not exact but safely under (the actual is 1200 = 30)

Not done 4th to the same extent but 1500 rpmis just under 30 mph on mine.

Hi mate and welcome. i have the B series, with a dash fault.

Just a thought, have you tried with side lights on, or pressed the trip meter, this brings my dash back to life. once i turn side lights on, and the dash powers up, i can turn them straight back off again.

ah well i seem to have rev counter all the time with lights on and off and the lights all work on the clocks but not found a trigger for speedo yet. The fella i bought it off says sometimes it does work when ignition turned on but once off its gone again. i have noticed i got no mile counter as well tho. Used to have an astra gte and that was riddled with electrical problems so not to fussed bout fixing it just not much time with baby so just didn wanna go speeding all over the place for now.

Don't forget the above may be a little out if you have non standard size tyres on.
