Cam Cover Breather Tube and Oil Seperators

Postby Sir-Doris on Thu Aug 21, 2008 9:09 pm

Right, as I posted some time ago (here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=18841) about the rocker cover breather going back into the intake manifold I did this:

I bought these Kettle Descalers.

Then I removed the breather tube from the Cam Cover and inserted both of them in the end of the breather tube.

Then replaced the breather.

I did some laning today and checked them when I got home, there was a thin smear of oil over the end of the mesh, in theory these should act as seperators so only clean air gets sucked into the manifold and not used engine oil and the oil should drain back into the engine. I will keep an eye on it over the next few thousand miles and report progress.

Just in case anyone else tries this, before fitting the mesh into the tube roll them for a while between your hands to make sure there arent any loose bits of wire that could get sucked into the engine, a few little bits did fall off.

I see no reason why this couldnt be used on any other engine type either.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it!
