Navman PiN 570 & In-Car Camera Mount

Tickled pink so's I am. I got the Navman off ebay, boxed and with all discs and destructions still sealed and in the bags with in-car mount and car charger for £45 delivered.
Its a couple of years old now but it does everything I want it to. Mainly running Memory Map and TomTom GPS navigation software with a built in GPS receiver as well as being able to play movies and music with Windows Media Player. With a SDIO WiFi card installed I can take over the world remotely from the comfort of my Frontera and all without getting lost.

And then cause I was bored I made this:

Its a windscreen mounted camera holder, demonstrated here on the side of my pc case. I havent put it in the car yet, but it will probably need adjusting slightly to get the best angle. Its just a strip of aluminium bent in the right places with a hole drilled in each end with a suction mount pressed in and a horizontal support bar bolted to the rear with a suction cup on the end. The suction cups have a certain amount of give in them (they are rubber after all) which gives the camera suspension of sorts.
I still need to get a proper wing bolt for the camera though as it just has an ordinary bolt at the moment with a nut that I have to tighten to lock the camera in place, which isnt the most intuitive way to secure the camera to the bracket. But hey, it only took 10 minutes.

Just use a window sucker under the camera, attached to the bolt, gives a buffer

All applications are very much in use

As mentioned, just a short wing bolt, will be cut down if necessary. Just been busy soldering some longer legs onto a couple of bulbs for the light and wiper switches. After 3 years Iv finally gotten fed up of them not working and decided to do something about it. Will be putting them in in the morning.

Tell ya what tho, the Navman is a cracking little gizmo. Well handy is that Memory Map. I had it on the laptop in the car before but that was nothing compared to this. Well, the advantage was you can see a lot more on the screen. May still carry it out with me on trips, just in case.

They're great, doing what they are supposed to do

just about bedded in now as I've had to go to anglesey a couple of times this week so thats racked up my milage a bit, and that big hill helped as well of course :lol:
