Location of fire extinguisher

Are extinguishers themselves affected by heat? Im looking at my options in mounting the unit within arms reach and would like to mount one on the dash on passenger side.But after the heat the last few days, I am a little concerned about the effect of direct sunlight on the extinguisher.

It should say on what the operating tempreature range is.

You should'nt have any issues keeping it in the car.

Mine is mounted on the rear roll bar, not Ideal I know, but easy access once rear door opened.

a lot of taxi drivers(private hire) have been told to keep them in the boot, but the hackny cabs keep them in the front

I did think about that Keith but decided on fitting it that way because, god forbid I had a prang, it could not come hurtling out of the holder and whack sommat

Good mounts Mart, I got one each side, next to the grab handle for getting in the rear. My LWB has one in the boot. Hope never to need either.

Can anyone else comment on this?
I need to fit one today to comply with regs at a site I'm going to tomorrow. Is the passenger foot well a good place. I don't want to put it in the drivers due to obstructing the driving position.
Where do other members have theirs fitted?

Mine will be fitted in front of the front passenger seat in the sport, with the handle towards the centre console.

That way, both front seat occupants can access it.

I'd suggest at the front of the passenger seat this way the passengers legs goes straight over. And it would be easy access for the Driver..

Mine is in the boot, next to the speaker and behind the wheel arch.

I think the best bet is to keep the fire extinguisher as near to the fire as possible, but not close so as you cant get to it because of the fire.

so plan where you would like your fire to be first...

...and then it is much easier to work out where to put the extinguisher.
