Fuel Tank Sizes??

With the costs of running the Fronty going up all the time I have looked at the cost of filling up the Fronty closely.

I found something odd.

Filling up from just under the red line on the gauge to the top of the gauge marked Full gives me 60 litres of fuel.However if I add another 20 litres I get no overflow and the gauge goes over the line.

As I found on my night time trip up to Glasgow airport this gave me an extra 120 miles before the gauge goes to full.

So the question is

Do Frontera's have different sized tanks or are they all box standard and the gauge is set wrong??
Haynes manual is not very clear on the size of the tank.

looking at putting a Ford Transit tank into the back of Nemesis

Why

i want to remove the normal tank fron underneath to give a better departure angle, plus the transit tank is bigger (longer range) , squareish so eashier to mount in the picup and enclose in chequer plate and easily modified to take the frontys fuel pump. I think

Oh, but thinking the fronty tank is huge anyway but the bigger it is the more weight you carry thus you loose lift, just a thought.

Also if you do a body lift you can tuck the tank up higher under the floor, Paul Higgi did it to his :wink:

Oh and the tank underneath lowers the cars centre of gravity :wink:
