Isuzu Mu (it's a fronty, really!) Does anyone know the GVW?

Hi all,
I've got a 2.8 mk 1 Isuzu Mu-As far as I know it's a 2.8 mk1 Fronty with a different interior-but being a jap import there's no readable weight plates on it.

Anyone know the GVW of it and max towing weight? I've got the kerb weight and max trailer noseweight from the net but thats all I can find.

I guess the GVW was never made public then? I found those specs on the net-but the problem I have is...deep breath...

I'm trying to find out if my girlfriend can tow our trailer (MAM 1100kg) on her Cat B licence.

Very recently the government clarified what you can tow with a plain cat B licence (no b+e) to say:-
Someone with Cat B licence can tow a trailer over 750kgs MAM provided the MAM of the trailer doesn't exceed the unladen weight of the towing vehicle (fine there) and the combination doesn't exceed 3500KG MAM. (to find this figure, I need the GVW of the Mu)

I cant imagine the MU weighing more then 1700KG, Add 1100KG to that = 2800KG. Sounds like it may be under the limit, but trailers over 750KG have to be braked.

Not overly sure bout any other stipulations.

i recon she can as the car has kerb of about 1800 with passangers and luggage dont exceed 2300kg

your getting confused with gross vehicle weight and gross train weight
the gross vehicle weight will be about 23/2400kg

gross train weight will be about 42/4400kg

the law is if you passed your test after jan 97 you cannot exceed 3500kg max weight

Category B: Vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes MAM and with up to eight passenger seats
Category B vehicles may be coupled with a trailer up to 750kgs MAM (allowing a combined weight up to 4.25 tonnes MAM) or a trailer over 750kgs MAM provided the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the towing vehicle, and the combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes MAM.
a vehicle with an unladen weight of 1.25 tonnes and a MAM of 2 tonnes coupled with a trailer with a MAM of 1.25 tonnes could be driven by the holder of a category B entitlement. This is because the MAM of the combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes and also the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the drawing vehicle

caravan MAM is 1100kg car weighs(loaded 2100kg) total weight 3200kg

ie if your fronty and your caravan dont exceed 3500kg on weighbridge your ok

one of my sons can drive my fronty & caravan on B licence under 3500kg (actual weight 3300kg)
but he cant drive my fronty with a loaded twinaxel trailer over 3500kg (actual weight 4300kg)
