changing a belt tensioner...

wotcher folks..

been out fettling under the car today, after popping by my local auto parts place for a new aux belt tensioner. The old one, well, I'll post a piccie later - it's a mess, hehe...
anyhow, got the bash plate off, undone the bolts, etc etc, refitted new part which leaves just one question - how do you remove that bloomin' pin which holds the damn thing closed so you can fit it, get the belt over the roller, etc??

any suggestions?? preferrably not of the kind "best done before fitting" etc, hehe...

Does your tensioner look like this?

If so, in the second picture you will see a square socket behind the pulley. A socket set 't' bar will fit in it and you can take the tension out to remove the pin.
