A series electrical problems

Hi I have an interseting problem with my 93 2.4 Lwb. Sometimes when I turn off the engine, leave it for a while, then try to restart it willnot turn over. All the dash board lights come on then when you turn the key to start nothing happens, the dash lights go dim. I have replaced the battery, earthed the alternator direct to the battery, re-earthed the block to the body, tightened up all the earth bolts arround the body that I can find, and yet yesterday it did it again, just would not start, then after phoning green flag rescue to come and tow us home a half hour later insert the key and away we go. This is now driving me in the direction of selling, something I don't really want to do. Any help would be really usefull as I would like to keep what hair I have left

check the small wire on top of the solenoid on the starter motor the next time it happens connect a test lamp and see if you are getting power to it if so make sure you have a good connection if you are then its time for a starter ... you will have to hold the key to the start position for the test lamp to light hope this helps

If all your earth points are good, then it looks like a starter motor probem

If it does turn out to be the starter, give us a shout as I'm breaking my '92 2.4

it could be the ignition switch
