Seats help please...

Postby rangaKoo on Mon Mar 24, 2008 9:50 am

Hey guys,

I'm in need of some help with my SWB seats.

I'm firstly sick of them.. they don't have any lumbar support which is adding to my back problems. They unfortunately don't go back quite far enough on the drivers side, I'd like another inch out of that..

So my thought is to find another seat that can bolt on to the frame and take the place of the Fronty SWB seats.

So does anyone know what seats will do? What will fit, what will work etc, and must have lumbar support and be comfortable ;)

Any suggestions would be good.

I've been thinking of Calibra seats, but don't really remember how comfy they were or weren't :)

If you can find 'em (will be next to the hen's teeth, rocking horse manure and the Frontera load covers and rear seats  ) the ones out of the MV6 Omega are fantastic!
Have a look round MIG or VxON for some ideas?

By the same token, seats out of an Omega Elite were pretty good...
Can't say much on the Cally seats, but the seats in my old Cavi were pretty good. V6 spec, so they were heated, and had twin adjustable lumbar suports. They won't tilt forward though, but seeing as you're planning on turning your motor into a ute, probably not an issue.
Another idea might be something out of a high-end Carlton too...

Even if you get the seats out of any of them cars, They WON't just bolts straight in.

You WILL still need to bolt them to the orginal frontera sub frame, as the sub frame sits and mounts in a frontera unevenly, i.e : higher on the lefthand side to the right.

I know this from the person how I brought my bucket seats off for MUD MUNCHA and by looking at the sub frame.

And also you say you need an extra inch on the driver side, obviously using the original sub frames won't help you out in that department.

Hi all,

Cheers for the responses so far... :)

I will have to look in to MV6 seats, that's a very good idea..

While I'd prefer tilting seats, because after the UTE conversion behind the seats will be my ONLY storage area in the car.. it is NOT a 100% necessity, there is always a work-around.

Hmmm, was aware that would need the Frontera seat sub frames already.. but presumably when bolting on say Omega seats or Calibra seats I could just bolt the drivers side one on an inch further back right??? (Sorry, never looked under these seats to see anything to know what I'm on about, please advise/correct me if I'm wrong).. because if I can do that, thus moving the drivers seat 1 inch rearward on furthest back setting then I would be over the moon...
If I am unable to do this at all I will just settle for some seats that are more comfortable than what I've got now.

Any further advise would be fantastic thanks folks..

Cheers,
Si

If you do go for the MV6 seats don't forget to get the wiring loom for the heaters (mmmm heated seats) and electrical adjustment.

Looking on eBay I did have another idea. How about a set of Recaro's like THESE.

Just up the road too

Hmmm, not bad either..

Sadly no lumbar support, but I might arrange to go have a look at them and sit in one to see what it's like.

Anyway, have to get on my way to work, long shift tonight sitting, doing nothing..
