Frontera Towbar Wiring

Postby aadams1x on Sat Mar 15, 2008 11:52 pm

Hi...

I have recently bought a 1997 Frontera Sport S. There is a towbar already fitted buit is not wired up. Can anyone help me, I do not know where to start and what colour does what for the connections. The lights on my car light up from the Bumber so all the wires should be easy to find....I hope!!! Thanks in advance :-)

I think there's a multi-plug connector behind the r/h/r bumper to connect the Vauxhall wiring to, but thats only for single electrics (12n) If you want double you have to run your own wires (12s)

Thats really interesting as it is only single electrics that I need... I will have a look, where would I buy the other end of the plug to clip into?? Thanks and sorry for being such a newbie!!

If it is there (I'm pretty sure it is....tied back to the loom) Its to take the genuine Vauxhall tow bar wiring, but you can just hack into it and take your feed off as required.

Thanks for the comments, does the wiring diagram above for the tow bar also represent the same colours on the wires I am looking for by the bumper...I.e. Does the red lead connect to the red lead on the car etc.... As you can tell I am very new to this and cant afford the £100 quoted by local towbar fitter just to wire it up!! Thanks very much......

There will be a plug tucked in below the floor of the boot and above the fuel tank. I bought a VX tow bar electrics kit from ebay so for me it was just a case of plugging it in. If you don't by a gen VX one you'll need to chop into the wires.
