1998 3.1td montery £1995,not seen it ,is this right price,in local garage,want to chop my 95 2.4i lwb in for it good idea or not,any thought be helpfull.

To be honest the price sounds about right, same engine as the frontera 2.8 just a tad bigger, slight bit thirstier though, but that will mostly be down to the weight of the trooper as its heavier than the fronty.

Does it have to be a diesel you are after, as I know of a petrol monty for sale (mine) :wink: plenty of pulling power.

98 on s plate mot oct 08 its tds model,131,000 miles,but when i started it up it was missing which worried me.Wanted a diesel with a view to convert to run on cooking oil,new oil not used stuff from the chippy.A friend got a surf that runs on oil thats been converted,seeing as the lovely mr darling :butt: ,is putting fuel up and possible road tax on our so called gas guzzlers.what would this diesel do to the gallon

25 to 30 mpg tops, they are a big motor. I think it is on the cheap side for a 98 model so perhaps there is a prob with it. A mate with one was only getting 17mpg until he had the injectors replaced and set up properly, even so he can still only get 27mpg tops.

Can get 27mpg out of the petrol monty on a run, was always going to gas it but never got round to it. I don,t think I get that out of the sport with big muds on. Just bought an estate car so selling monty on. Must admit it is nice having 40mpg but do miss all the space. Erm, seem to have hi-jacked this thread abit, sorry :oops:

decied not to get montery,the garaged offered me 450-500 quid p/ex my fronty was he having a :lol: or what,stick wiv what i got,thanks for everones help.
