Exhaust/oxy sensor

Postby olympus16270 on Thu Mar 06, 2008 11:57 pm

Now developed a second problem, exhaust emissions light on dash is on and irregular running/idling also revs drop off slowly when releasing accelerator.
Could this be a cream crackered oxy sensor or could it be caused by the exhaust blowing and confusing the sensor?
Sorry for so many questions but have only bought this car recently and it is a bit more technically advanced than my last Frontera.
Update-ordered a new sensor anyway, this presents another question-does the warning light have to be reset in any way after replacing the sensor or will this simply cure it.
thanks,John

What model, engine and year are you?

Exhaust blowing, depending if it is before or after the cat could be causing it.

Light will probably need resetting.

Find someone with a code reader - without knowing what the code is it could be anything and you could be barking up the wrong tree completely.

Thanks again Andy-we must stop meeting like this :)
Well now I am really confused, refuelled today and after a mile or so the emissions light went out and stayed out, could this have been bad fuel?
I have a sensor on order so if the problem re-occurs at least I can replace it.-John

Put some redex or similar through to give it a good clean - could have been duff fuel - it is not unheard of!
