how do i know if the primer pump is going?
on my previous 2.3 you could pump it but then it would get harder
on my 2.8 you can pump and pump and it wouldn't get hard.

Re: how do i know?Surely, the primer pump is only used to bleed the air out of the fuel having changed the fuel filter (or having run out of fuel)

Re: how do i know?apologies if im wrong , but doesn't the pump bit go downwards when knackered ? like up n down whilst you rev ? i dont think the fact that it doesn't go hard indicates primer pump failure , i think thats the diaphram "vaccuming" as the fuel cant flow with the stop solonoid switched off !

Re: how do i know?i know this has got nowt to do with a prime pump but are you sure thats the problem
![]() i,ve said this before,i dont even use the primer pump,it is much easyier to cut the fuel line from the filter to the pump & insert a hand pump,so if you ran out of derv or after a filter change 2-3 pumps sorts it & engine fires as it should........ my frontera 2.3 td is a slug in snails clothing ha
