x22ex x22se engines

Postby rimram on Thu Feb 28, 2008 6:46 pm

Hi can anyone tell me the difference between a x22ex and a x22se engine? the engine in my fronty B is a " se " but it is knackered, I have located a 2.2 in a omega and that is a y22ex has anyone any details on this engine, it looks almost identical to mine apart from the coils are in the rocker and the throttle body and sump will have to be changed

Hi,

Could you possibly point a ''mechnophoebe'' in the right direction for places to look for bargain replacements such as this?

As per my other post I managed to aquire 2 nice holes in the bottom of my engine (an X22SE from a 2.2 SWB Sport), some flames and a lot of smoke, at 70mph whilst in the fast lane of the A3 heading north on Sunday (all within 30 seconds of hearing the first knocking noise) Not bad considering I only got it back on the road after being parked up for a year, about 6 weeks ago and since then, apart from finding out my abode for the next 6 months is under water (its in the area of Selsey hit by the storm on Monday) YES YES Ok I know I can hear the violins as well, but as there is a chance I've lost everything I've been writing for the last 6 years to one of mother natures mood swings, I'm having a slight attention span, mind going walkabout problem........

But I digress as i was saying, since the incident, I' ve been trying various options (all against the advice of family and friends who are all of the opion that I should cut my loses and get a different vehicle!!) and they've been coming in around the £1100 - £1900 mark to supply and fit a replacement used engine or recon engine......

And whilst I know being a non mechanicy person, I've got to swallow the cost of someone to take out the old and fit the new engine, I like if possible to at least try to find a replacement engine at a reasonable price, so that the overall cost doesn't get even me thinking about changing cars... perish the thought !!

So any help or direct would be most appreciated

I paid £1500 for vx to fit a vx recon engine 2 yrs ago but the car was, and is overall in a sound condition and I know Il have years of trouble free motoring with regular services etc.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it!
