The amazing thing is first aid can be a legal nightmare.

The was a British Soldier in Germany, who saved a womans leg and life after a nasty car crash he witnessed, he went to help and saw she was looing blood as her main artery in her thigh was puntured.

He grabbed the artery and stopped the bleeding until help arrived , he was comended for saving the womans life.

A few months later he was in court with the womans husband accusing the soldier of sexual assult, as the severed artery was at the top of her thigh.
He never got procicuted in the end, but it must have been a very worrying time.

Also you need to know how to use the first aid kit and be trained in its use.

Its a very very sad world we live in.

Okay don't tell me how much of a nightmare First Aid can be.As a trained First Aider at work ( St Andrews First Aid at Work )I am supposed to help people out but first of all you have to go through the rigmerole of "I can treat you if you wish, bla, blah, blah" but if you get it wrong you can get sued. It's a mess we live in.

These kits are usefull if you are out and about on your own, with friends or with family and you injure yourself ( Gash on a Gatepost if I remember the post correctly ) not for profesional use.
To cover a wound when it happens rather than travel some distance to get help reduces the risks of infections, ect.

Accidents happen!

I've been trained as a first aider for the last 17 years, and have unfortunately had to use it on to many occasions. However, my ticket ran out last october (work funded a course, then pulled it as there was already a first aider on site - will organise my own course soon).

I would now seriously think about whether or not to assist someone who needed help. I know that is a terrible thing to say, and goes against everything I have been taught and feel, but from a legal standpoint I feel that I would be left wideopen if something went wrong (through my own fault or not).

What a terrible world we live in.

(I still keep a (legally) stocked first aid kit in the car at all times)

:(

as a trainee nurse honey is a fab thing to keep in the med box if you get a burn dont put under cold water as the quick change in temp will cause a big blister just put honey on it and then cling film youll see it works wounders :D

what it does is it keeps all the skins natural moisture in to help reduce if not stop the blister forming it acts like another layer of skin a sticky layer but an extra one is good xx

Ive been using the spray on stuff thats supposed to be like a plaster. I think its just super glue in a spray, its clear. For small stuff its great, scrapes, cuts etc. Especially knuckles, keeps the litle one happy too as it stops bleeding. The missus accidentally cut the dogs claw to short, which bled, sorted that one.
Then last week, got a inch length of welding wire jump off and stick into my finger, seared the skin and some flesh out (also fortunately the nerve endings). Didnt bleed, sprayed it on and sealed it, Cleaned and reapplied a few times over the next 2 days and its nicely healing now.

As far as First Aid stuff goes...

You are more likely to be commended for saving a life than taken to court for doing something wrong.

As long as you are open and honest and only do what your first aid training has taught you.. then you shouldn't go far wrong.

No court in the WORLD can hold it against you for trying to save a human life!

I had a first aid cert from when I used to manage bars. we were sent every year on refresher courses. Its run out now though. Always carry a large first aid kit in the car. You never know. and for a few quid its worth it and pennies to stock up again.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it!
