Enviroment Agency gone nuts !!!

Went to the breakers yard today, needed some shocks for the rear of my frontera. Anyway when I got there I asked the elderly chap if he had any frontera's in and told him what I needed..... I was amazed at what he said.

"You may be unlucky son, cos since the enviroment people have been here we have to puncture them..... If we don't take them off the vehicles and put them in the stores we have to puncture them to let the oil out... new rules I'm afraid"

He carried on "We only take them off the newer vehicles which are the most popular, we don't have the manpower to strip every car so the older vehicles get the shockers punctured"

It amazes me that on one side we have the government saying "recycle, recycle" and then we have the enviroment saying "destroy them, destroy them"..... So basically if you have an older frontera or for that matter an older vehicle your buggered for any spare parts that the enviroment agency consider to be a hazard if left in a breakers yard.

ABSOLUTELY MENTAL if you ask me.... Don't know what you guys and girls think....

That amazes me..you have a sealed shocker, causing no problems to anyone, they come and tell you to puncture it, let the oil run anywhere.

surely its better if its contained, than released.
