I'd advise the getting the RAC or similar to check it out thoroughly, and also get a full check to make sure there is nothing dodgy in it's history (they can check all of that if you ask em about it).

Thanks guys. Ive already tried budging him on the price but he said no cos hes taking my fiesta which is an R reg and has very high mileage (126k I think). He said he would have brought the price down if I was paying him straight and never has any trouble getting rid of Fronteras
There is some service history and the MOT was done at 47K last August, its now got 49k on it but he said he would put a new MOT if I wanted one. Taxed til end April. Engine sounded sweet when it was ticking over today not that I know much Maz

Thanks for the thought anyway Si. Much appreciated. Think Im always going to pay somewhat over the odds because I need to go Trade to do part ex as I'm strapped for cash. Moved to the country where we live at the top of a hill, when it rains the lower roads run like a river and all flood, the trees shade the road so it gets icy and the pot holes are attrocious!
Still, I'll keep looking around as I dont want to be too much of a mug. Maz
Cheers

Thanks for your help and advice guys.
Unfortunately I cant sell my car first as I need a vehicle to get to work and its up for tax and MOT very soon so didnt wanna drag things out. I went to see the car and drove it. Got the price down as you suggested and he is also changing the cam belt for me so only put very small deposit on it at mo. Did security checks on the internet re: finance, stolen markers, mileage check etc and also printed off the vehicle checks suggested on this board and on other internet sites. Carried out as many as I could. I wish I had the knowledge, money, time and friends who can fit in with my shifts to look at 'x' number of cars but failing that Ive done the best that I can. Although I'm sure I've still paid somewhat over the odds I think the car is sound, which for me is most important. I'm sure if I need some advice about anything that crops up someone on here will help me out, for which I'm grateful. You'll be the first to know if its a complete pile of pants! Maz
If your happy thats he main thing
Regardless of price it sounds a nice car, and any questions you have just ask, we thrive off it Ste
