Every since buying diesel cars have always filled up at local Tesco
Since buying the 2.2dti found it wont run properley on local TESCos diesel so have been using shell same price
Anyway did fuel filter on the 2.8 this weekend and poured the old diesel out of filter into a bowl
this has now settled and has water floating on it
i am not into playing 106.9 for water
So here is some advise get proper stuff not Tescos Mineral Water enriched diesel its bobbins
So outcome both motors fill up at Shell same price
Contacted customer service at store they took my number and said a Mr Fahey would ring back
Guess what no ring back
If you want you diesel frontera to run avoid "Tescos Diesel"
This is not first case on here another 2.2 owner had the same
if you have had similar from Tescos posty in this thread
if you are in any other car forums plkease make them aware of this
A legend in my own mind

Hi,
It was me that raised the alert last time.
I found exactly the same thing..... water.
Won't use Tesco's EVER!
I use BP ultimate, yes it's more expensive (way more expensive!) BUT ........ I get another 3 to 4 mpg from it!
So..... works out cheaper really!

ive drove diesels for 18 years now and you always get water in the fuel filter,is that not what the drain plug on filters is for? i dont think it matters where you get your fuel from you will always get water as it comes from condensation,i drain my filter every couple of months and there is always a small amount of water,if there was a large amount of water in tescos diesel then your engine would just go bang.my mother also worked at a gulf petrol station some years ago now and they took deliveries from bp and esso,so how do you know what it says on the pump is what your getting anyway?

er, yeah. what he said ^^^^
the Filter is also the water separator. it will have some water in it. i really dont think this is cause for concern.

On Sunday my wife put Tesco fuel in her 2.2 petrol fronty for the first time ever.
It IMMEDIATELY started misfiring and cutting out.
On Sunday afternoon she took the kids out to a park 10 or so miles from us.
Guess what? - I got a phone call from her 20 minutes after she'd left saying the car's broken down!
It had stalled and the engine wouldn't even turn over!
After spending 2 hours mucking around with it (and getting green flag out) I eventually found that the fuse for the ECU had gone.
We got the car restarted (still misfiring) and got it to a BP garage and put 40 quids worth of petrol in to dilute the Tesco stuff.
After 5 minutes it was fine and has been ever since!
Tesco fuel is C**P ..... End of.....

i aint personaly suffered this, but my uncle & my dad were filling up at
safeways (now morrisons supermarket) & after a few weeks they both
had misfire problems etc they both used the same garage where the
mechanics drained their tanks & blamed the safeways petrol(they have never used morrisons/safeways fuel since),niether have
problems since......
but i must add i fill up anywhere, dont just go to one garage & in 18yrs
i,ve had no problems at all fuel wise,it could just be a bad batch now &
again same with anything food,tv's,clothes, you name it everythings so
mass produced these days we are bound to encounter a few problems
along the way.........
my frontera 2.3 td is a slug in snails clothing ha

last time i spoke to a friend who works for Tesco i asked hem about the fuel
i was told that somewhere along the line it was beeing indoctrinated with silicone.
Also it should be sorted out by now.
BUT dont for get silicone alsto floats on oil so would look like water
Just my thoughts and info
P.S. I still dont use tesco fuel, the only thing i use a tesco fuel station for is to jet wash the fronty after laning

Looks like they still haven't resolved the issue then
http://www.petrolprices.com/blog/tesco-apologises-for-contaminated-fuel-66.html
Just found this post
I filled up at Tesco in Milton Keynes on 19th December, glo plug light started flashing on 21st and then engine menagment light. Car lost power and then engine cut out. Breakdown service called and could find no fault. Car able to be driven and appeared to rectify problem.
Reccoemnded to get a diagnostic check which I did on 12th January - result of that was fuel filter changed hwever mechanic also noticed contamination in diesel and managed to get a sample.
Have now informed tesco and have sent off some of sample (kept the rest in case it gets lost!!) Was also told to fill up with shell optimax to try to flush the system. Otherwise will need complete rebuild could total £2,000.
I have proof purchased at tesco (cub card and mastercard) will be interesting to see what they say.
