Frontera gear problems

alrite peeps,
just try'd posting the help bit but need to be a mod to do a new topic,

i got my self a frontera today and drove it back it was sound as a pound, i got home parked up for 30mins, went back out for a drive in my new car. all seem great i make a wrong turn, had to revise up a hill when i got back to top tryed selecting 1st and it wouldn't go any where, just a simple nudge forward and stopping, tryed again thinking it wasn't in gear and did the same am able to push the car and it moves freely, so i know it can't be a the diff.

just wanted to know if you point me to the right way for the fault(s) and to get back on the road and enjoy my frontera.

What model and year is it ?

Is the little hi/lo lever in 2H position ?

make sure the little lever is in 2H

hi yeah the little gear stick is in 2 h, and its a l reg 1993 2.3 turbo diesel!

if it was the master cyl or the slave cyl, wouldnt he have problems getting it into gear? as opposed to not moving when in gear :?:

hi there thanks for the help but ive decided to take to the garage and they have striped it all down and they have rung me today to say the clutch id fine but it as a dual fly wheel on which has collapsed or something like that. Which i didnt know it would have one of these on but it can mended they said they can change it to a normal fly wheel, and i wouldnt know any difference in the change cos they carnt get hold of dual fly wheels any longer. Is this a good or bad idea let me know your comments! Also can fly wheels be rebuilt?

clutch has been done on one recently on forum

can you get them to keep it for you we have a reconditioner for 2.8 dual mass flywheels

ya ill go get it to moz. so wat do u think they pullin one over me?

we are under the impression dual mass was only introduced 1995 on 2.8 tdi

dual mass on a 2.3d hmm odd, with a dual fly you gain the smoothness & vibration dampening characteristics than with a conventional solid fly, the solid fly's are much more affordable and robust though, I do know that they do fit the dual mass application on some vehicle's to gain the option of wider clutch plate diameter to raise up the torque capacity of the drive train. i have done many a clutch change and i have gone from dual to a solid fly.

the dual fly can also be re surfaced as well matey, if they remove the bolts and separate the primary and secondary flywheel.
