i fitted a new airflow meter and cleaned the egr out now to have codes read again and hope its not the dredded number 1 injector lol as my local vx want 480 pound plus v a t exchange lol :shock:

i thought it would be a good idea to clean it.

Took it for a brief laning trip yesterday just to see how it went. Pretty good considering it was running on 4 tyres with questionable tread

Did the Carwash, Wayfarer and Conquering Hero quite happily. Only slight issue was I managed to tear the n/s/r bumper off it's mounts - but with a bit of bodging it's back on. :thumbup:

If you have a blow lamp give it a bit of heat, works every time.

Replaced the alternator belt. What an arse that is. Anyone who says they can do it without removing the aircon pipes from the back of the pump is a liar

Flushed I don't know how much brown gunge/rust general crap out of the cooling system and replaced with fresh antifreeze. 2 minute drive is was brown gunge again, I guess I'll be flushing it again at the weekend. :roll:

Dropped the oil and filter.

Battery off. Top a/c compressor bolts off. Lever it away from engine and remove ball ache lower rear a/c compressor bolt. Remove lower front a/c compressor bolt. Move a/c compressor away to get to altenator

Now you have opened the a/c system up you will need to get it vacuumed, and charged buddy. Else you will knacker your compressor pump.

I can let yo into a sectet to properly flushing the system. On the passenger side of the engine block, below the very rear face of the fuel pump, next to the engine mount is a small bolt. Its actuall a plug in a plug. This is the drain for the cooling system. Will try to find a picture and post it.

Seen the pics and read the tutorial mate. Just no way to get any socket or spanner in there from above or below with removing the pipes out of the back of the air con pump. The job was simple when I did that. I didn't put the damn thing back in either. I've considered it an optional extra that I won't need :wink:

Have to admit I left mine off and replaced with an idler pulley ... you will need a shorter belt though.

No, i put the air con pump back, just not the 4th bolt.
