Jim, one of the best clays available (and not too expensive) is from Bilt Hamber http://www.bilthamber.com/search-produc ... :%20Polish, available from other decent outlets (and eBay), too.
It's one of the Very few clays that can be moistened with just a spray of water. Others need a clay lubricant.

* Use a SOFT/mildest clay * The Frontera paint (I'm told) is very soft, and thin. The body has to be completely clean & free of loose grit/dust etc, otherwise you're going to drag any particles across the paint causing more scratches.. Clay does Not remove scratches, only comtaminants that have been ingrained in the surface (the prior cleaning will remove any Loose contaminants on the surface..). Claying will leave the bodywork unprotected, so be sure to wipe down (straight lines) with an all purpose cleaner or 'IPC' (removes any chemicals left on the car) before waxing or taking the to the next stage. It all depends how much you're going into this, tbh.. detailing & correction is like a drug! Steve you are right , it was after I finished with the after clay polish that the scratches disappeared. Got to say though I'm happy with the results although I won't be doing it on a regular basis.

Anyway, on to today.

The rear brakes were knackered so decided to stop messing about fiddling and fitted new pads, new shoes and new discs.

Before - still with mud from the annual stuck in them :oops:

Probably not evident from this piccy, but the old disc is wayyyyy thinner than the new one and very very badly scored.

Just trying to muster the energy to go and replace the towbar elecs that I also smashed off at the annual

LOL. Sure ya would mate. Wouldn't risk it though as also need rear bearings done too. NSR is goosed and grinding away now (only using her when I have to) and gonna do the OSR at the same time to keep them nice and equal. Oh well. Was worth asking, eh Si? :wink:

Box', where the towbar plug was certainly was exposed, are you considering locating the new one up maybe adjacent to the reg plate?

I'm about to go and loosen the engine guards bolts and re-tighten them - another aspect to try and eliminate the cause of "the bang".

went to a mini scottish vauxhall owners meet was really really mini due to a jacknifed trailer the M8 got shut at harthill service where we were supposed to meet.
I really need to raise front end so its same as rear was bit dodgy to drive plus the lights were pointing at ground

Dav the bracket I made (bodged) is hinged so that it folds up behind the towbar when not in use so that it doesn't get ripped off.

Proper bodge but it means I can go laning without killing it, as it's only ever down when I'm towing

Went to do egr gaskets and guess what they gave me wrong ones so now have to order new ONE not TEN just ONE and get a refund for the TEN wrong ones he gave me

Although they've still got 10mm+ tread (on 15x8 wheels) the guy had just fitted new 35" muddies to his (new!) Toyota pickup (bliddy gorgeous it was, too..)

drone home in 4th gear where ever i could use it
as all other gears are screatching at me
so i think it is time for a new box asap

Just bought FULL UK breakdown cover with Home Start for less than £28.90. Could have had personal cover for an additional £20 but didn't think it was worth it. Very pleased with that kinda deal. :lol:
