went out for some midnight laning with a mate mainly to test my new CBs. anyway on 1 of the lanes has a slope that's maybe 30degrees, well I stoped on it facing down hill with about 10litres of diesel in the tank. I got out to get some fresh air and left it running. about 2mins later it suddenly sounded odd and then promptly died...yep you guessed it, it had sucked up a load of air and stalled.

long story short me and my mate slept in the car (we didn't get any sleep because we kept scairing eachover). when the sun rose I set about bleeding the system. luckally I had a tyre pump and the tool box with me so I could do it. as you can guess I was bricking it, being the dti, I thought I had killed the pump. bled it in about 45mins and got it running just before 2 farmers turned up in there tractors lol. good timing or what!

I have learnt 3 things from this, 1) don't leave it running on a slope, 2) sleeping in a fronty isn't very comfy and 3) sleeping in the middle of the cambridgeshire fens is scairy lol.

Drove it to work after passing the re-test yesterday..felt strange after a week of the wife's quiet civic, but the fronty goes around roundabouts better at speed.

started to get ready for the annual meet,so first thing first,

sort out the garage so i can find stuff :shock:

I found last years tent still in bin liners :lol:

and load of other stuff that i have been looking for the last 12 months :lol:

and I found my bloody angel grinder,that i been looking for the last 3 months :dance:

Didn't do anything to the Fronty but Mrs has given the OK for investment in tyre/wheel package inc the spare to keep all matching!
Have therefore been looking at the new General Grabber AT's on a set of charcoal steels.
If it all comes together then I will be saying farewell to two Lassa Competus' on the front axle and from the rear axle I will say goodbye to one Lassa Competus and one General Grabber UHP(?). The spare will be kept -its a GoodYear Wrangler in "as new" condition, which I only used for a couple of hours when one of the alloys had to be paint sealed due to leaking.
Hopefully happy days ahead.

1. Replaced the N/S rear passenger door handle, easy enough.

2. Oil pressure has been up and down of late, so I removed the turbo oil return pipe to make sure it was clear and not restricted with crud following a recent turbo death and subsequent replacement. Not so easy, bit of a pain to be honest, it's a debatable point which end of the pipe is the most awkward to deal with.

At the turbo end the bolts are upside down with one being well hidden and required the removal of the turbo's coolant supply/return pipes to be able to get the 10mm 1/4" drive socket on it.

The sump end, mmmm, apart from needing 10" long multi jointed fingers to get at the nuts it was a bit like pulling your own teeth out with a rusty claw hammer, not easy. In fact, next time, if there's a next time I'll bribe drifty with a box of pasties to do the thing for me :wink:

(or remove the oil filter first, which would improve access slightly and thereby reduce the bribe to a second hand slightly nibbled sausage roll).

The good news, it was clear, doesnt leak anymore from the bottom seal and it's another job off the long list of stuff to do.

today i did a final look over for the mot, and rembered my warning light some times plays up, so i removed the steering wheels and removed that, and once i opened the switch up. i found it was full of crap, so 10mins of cleaning later it is now working ok.

i am now getting a humming sound from my fuel tank, i am just hoping i put it back on ok :shock:

recieved an email confirming the +2 shocks are in stock for the rear and the fronts are in another contianer due in april

Shed more blood and skin today replacing the clutch master cylinder and clutch pedal, decided to do the pedal as it came off same truck so thought it would be easy straight swap........ OH NO :twisted:

got it all fitted after getting little finger caught in side of pedal took skin off.... thought great this is going well i'll be done by tea time not bad considreing i started the day in the rain, then came the process of bleeding... should of been straight forward i've done hundreds of hydraulic clutches over the years, so went through the process correctly but NO CLUTCH

so after 2hrs (now thats what i call perseverence) and 1ltr of fluid started consulting the manual in case i was missing something 2.2 specific

then made phone calls all with good tips but no change :shock:

then after an hr of phone calls and head scratching took one more look at it and realised that the clutch pedal sat 1/4 inch lower than the brake :shock:

so after adjusting the pedal and the pushrod i now have a clutch so light it feels like a brand new car, then at 9.30pm started the oil change could not believe it only dropped 2ltrs of old oil :shock:

but put the new stuff in and now runs sweet just need to do cam belt and idler/tensioner pulley

And modded the wheel arches on my A series. Tires have been catching since they were fitted (265/75/16 on offset rims with 30mm spacers).

Good news is, follow the steps in the link above and 2" of clearance is easily obtained. The A series has a lot more metal in the wing to work with but you have to start the cuts higher up in the wing if you want to keep the plastic wheel arch trims. (LWB only, SWB doesnt have the trims).

Anyway, its nice being able to turn corners or go down dips without the tires catching and peopel staring as you reverse out of car park spaces.

Since the MoT yesterday, I have done the front wheel bearing,welding on the sill,new front number plate,rear brake pipe.
Now just waiting on Autoglass for the new screen (will be around to do it some time between 8 and 12 on sunday).
Hopfully retest on monday :dance:

on the same note, i have been working on mine, since it failed its mot :shock:

there was dammaged front drive shaft (the only option that could put it down as (the front drive shaft was turning on the roaling road))
so that sounds like some muppet put i into 4wd mode and locked the hubs and didnt unlock them

brake imblance, due to same above

rear brake line corded (now replaced, but i have a but of it stuck in the brake hose now

, so will be trying to get that out , if not order a new one, that will be here monday)

and rear sus bushes, so i have got a loverly replacment, for you lot, as soon as it goes through i will tell you what i did

so hoping i can get it retested today, if no it will be monday/tuesday

Well after the welsh weekender i decided to give her some much needed TLC as she performed so well offroad.
Changed all the diff oils and gearbox and transfer case, Also painted the diff pan yellow.
Sealed the silly little hole in the botton of the airbox and beaded around the join for a tighter fit for the K&N filter.
Also ran all the diff breathers upto the snorkel top....... because i wanted to and i think it looks good.

Just ordered some rooflights so they will need fitting, along with the airhorns off the toy to be fitted before the annual meet. I guess i might treat her to an oil change aswell while i 'aint got too much to do.

I emptied Beasty of all the junk and cr@p, ready for her full valet tomorrow afternoon. It's amazing how much rubbish can accumulate in one car. :shock:
