WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!

removed the fuel tank and gave it a clean out. needed to see why is was leaking anyway. turns out a previous owner did some work to the sender unit(they even cut the boot floor to do it very poorly). they didn't seal the top properly so water in tank, expain why the truck been ill

Had no work on today so got busy with the Pick Up, despite the wind and rain :evil:

Firstly spent a good few hours rewiring the accessory switch panel and moving the flashy light things from the front grille onto the picnic table bolted to the roof.

Original position

New position in the dash. Just couldn't see it at a glance when it was above my head, so this suited me more.

Lights moved from grille up to the picnic table (that's what the wife calls it.)

Also whipped the rear sump pan off. Breather was totally wedged with carp, also decided to rub it down and paint it. Why white ? Coz that's what I had in the shed!

Did all that and it wouldn't start

With Fuddy's assistance I tracked it down to a break in the fuel pump wire :roll:

EDIT: Also whipped all the plugs out and cleaned them up and banged 'em back in

Box having painted the rear diff white your gonna be telling us you've gone and fitted a white light underneath shining on it! You leading the convoy to the annual meet then? :lol:

Nope , no additional lights. I only moved the existing ones as they were already on the truck and where they were would get (and have got) full of water when wading.

Not sure what to take to the annual yet to be honest, it may well be the Dti.

Ahhh convoy lights and that fun little game we used to called 'convoys' Driving for miles and miles having had no sleep for the last 72 hrs and no lights apart from that very dim, mud splatterd thing pathecticaly trying to shine on the white painted diff cover underneath the wagon you were trying to follow and not ram! And then they did a right turn into some pitch black German Forest..... and the Guard shone a white torch in your eyes :shock:

If I smacked one tree, I must have taken out a whole forest by the time I left Germany :roll:

I had a mate who drove a Bedford through a German shop window, he hadnt slept for that long he saw gnomes in the road and avoided them :shock:

no H&S in HMAF in those days :lol:

Really, more what I bought for...I got some recovery shackles of fleabay. I just hope they're gonna fit on the front of Chugga. :wink:

James, them,s the fellas. Though you might need to wind the front torsion bars up another half turn to compensate for the additional weight

well today i replaced the rear disc's & pads £57. plus had to go scrappy for a brake caliper £20

Replaced the seized turbocharger. Went out for a test run and one of the cooler hoses popped of where it connects to the heater matrix :butt:

Pulled over and got some new antifreeze and water in crossing my fingers and hoping I haven't destroyed the head or head gasket! :sick:

Hmm, more pick up fun today.

Rewired fuel pump.
Moved CB from behind the seats to the side of the centre console.
Attached spare wheel to roof rack with threaded bar and bracket
Nipped up the studs on the sump hoping that may slow/stop the leak but I'm pretty sure the rear crank seal and sump gasket are goosed

Covered the bottom end in acid and jetwashed gallons of encrusted oil off it.
Wire brushed fuel and brake lines and waxoyled them

I received these from MG Autos (Mark).

Top bloke...especially when you consider they were only sent out yesterday. Thanx buddy. :drink:

I popped over to my mates garage in St Helens and fitted my new tyres

Soooo much easier than doing them with tyre levers :lol:

They'd look so much better on either of my trucks Ste. U wanna swap them really. Don't ya? :wink:

Fitted a set of front spot lights that I aquired from AndySD1, so thanks Andy they look great.......

So where's the pics then Krusher? :wink:

Fitted the new tail pipe and whipped the middle section of for a repair job (gotta love gun gum) :wink:

Put some bulbs in the rear spots after completing the wiring for them earlier in the week.

Feeling all clever and stuff I parked up up outside and got out and the door fell off :evil:

Decided to use it to take daughter to work so did a 'Dukes of Hazzard' through the window
