Fixed the li'll white locked up leafer today...
Had replace a powersteering hose and belt...but the adjust had seized so off it came and with a dose of oxy-propane it freed up nicely...
Refitted with new belt and replaced the burst hose with the one liberated from the yella fronterror...
Refilled the system and started her up and we now have powersteering again

No more aching arms!
I rerouted the hose differently to keep it away from the exhaust manifold this time...the burst hose failed on the bit closest to the manifold so I am wondering if heat had been a factor...this car has had an unusual life in the last 14months, such that it has done next to no road miles and hundreds at 5mph with some immense under bonnet temperatures at times...and at 5mphish everywhere there is little air flow to cool the manifold...
We will see if this one lasts longer!
Drained down the cooling system and treated it to some antifreeze...it had been full of water since it blew its rad at the beginning of the summer...
Checked the oil, fixed the drivers door lock and removed the driving lamps to give more airflow and so I dont bust em!...
Ran it up to temp and noticed a pool underneath...though balls I have a leak somewhere..then realised it was petrol...the return hose from the engine to the hard piping had split and I had done a couple of gallons into the engine bay and floor...We noticed a petrol smell from it at the weekender, but thought it was the breathers where the car had been almost on its side...no wonder it used so much fuel last time out!
Finished off with a bit of reshaping with the sledgey...tyre to arch clearances are somewhere near where the should be again now!
Then started on the 2.8lwb...changed the glowplugs (must take Sally to the workshop next time I do this, my hands are too damn big to get in to em easily!), tightened alternator belt..still too loose really, but end the end of the adjuster...might get a bit shorter belt for it...
Added some more antifreeze, topped up the screen wash, checked levels and topped up where needed, and sorted the headlight out that wasnt working (broken wire at connector where it pushes onto bulb)...
And that was it really...so came home...
