frontera as an off roader ???

Mgauto springs all the way or on a B series possibly trooper HD springs. 265 75r16 bfgoodrich MTs do fit with just a 2 inch suspension lift and the B series arch mod. See my Dti thread (link in my signature) for pics of a B series with the above tyres fitted. It had trooper HD springs fitted to it and gave just under 2" lift and that did lanes all over the place, Wales, peaks, Northamptonshire, East anglia etc etc etc

LandRover Disco 1 HD rear coils and seats are what you need, cheap as chips and readily available give +2"

What about fitting discovery +2 inch rear springs and seats do you get 2inch lift with the frontera or do you get more

Is there any particular reason your set on land rover springs? going more than 2" on the torsion bars will be pushing it and will also effect your camber.

Reason for the disco springs I have been using a disco for off roading for years and have quite a few spare parts about included a new set of disco +2 springs

+2" discovery springs will give close to 4" on a SWB Frontera, I have standard height Heavy Duty discovery spring and they gave just over 2"

Disco springs will lift it, but wont let it flex as much as Marks springs...trooper springs are kinda in the middle. The car on top aint heavy enough for them sadly

Mines a 2002 frontera B LWB quite weighty in the boot with gear
So what would discovery +2 springs give me compared to benchmark HD ones

Mine flexes just fine on Disco springs, only limiting factor is it's still on standard shocks with the ARB fitted

On my disco I am looking at lifting the back end.on springs

But looking at measurements on mine and see if some one has all ready fiited taller springs

My car is a 2002 frontera B LWB

My measurements are from floor to bottom of plastic arch

Driver rear is 34 inch
Passenger rear is 33 inchs
Driver front is 32 inchs
Passenger front is 32 inchs

I dont want to start winding things up if some one all ready has had a play

Should read measured from floor to bottom center of the plastic arch

Technically you should measure from the centre of the wheel to the arch otherwise the size of your tyres has to be factored in, and given that no 2 tyres are the same size it means the measurements are somewhat useless. Center of the wheel to the arch measures the height of the suspension and nothing else.

I measured from the center of the wheel to the bottom center of the arch and these are the measurements

Drivers rear 20 inchs
Passenger rear 19 inchs
Driver s front 18 1/2
Passenger front 18 1/2

hi ya , i too have disco plus 2" springs on the rear of my swb fronty sport the ride is far better than the worn out frontera springs or coat hanger wire lol, the height from ground to rear arch is 37.5" and 36" ground to front arch on 31x1050x15 tyres no body lift taking in consideration the old springs were knackerd i think the disco springs have given the truck a 3 " lift the disco springs are exactly the same length as the frontera springs 420 mm some say the ride is to harsh it suits me ?

so are you after measurments from a standard or lifted b?

Both please mate i think mines standard but looks like its had up graded springs at some point so i dont want to start winding things up if some one has allready had a play about

in theory if you're b has been lifted then the front torsion bars will of been wound up somewhat so shes sitting pretty level ( its normally 4 turns per inch lift ish ) when plus rear springs were fitted ... so what i would do is lubricate the torsion bars daily for a week or so then lift each front wheel off the ground in turn and raise that torsion bar up ( carefully counting the turns of the bolt so you can return it down later ) if it can raise 12 or so turns then the chances are it hasnt been lifted, if it will only turn a few times it most likely has been, if you do both sides the same amount of times then lower it back on to the front wheels & it slopes rearwards you will know for sure. its not an exact science but it would give you some idea if its been lifted previously.

I understand +2 inch on rear thw wind the torsion bars up 8 turms clock wise will give me 2 inch

But whats on my mind if some one qity out a clue has been messing and I turn up I could be up at 3-4 inch and hence Iam having problems all I am after doing is making it standard for me to have a level to start from
