Braveheart is sick

Well i eventually managed to get it stripped today. Had to remove all the heads at once with the manifolds on as i couldn't get the awkward nuts at the rear and under the manifolds.
All sitting on the bench awaiting tomorrow's attack. I'll get the starter off while its easier to get at. :mrgreen:

I'll keep you informed of the progress.

Well I managed to get the heads on today and didnt notice that when i knocked the assembly against the alternator bracket, i broke the top off the temp sender. Noticed it this afternoon when i went to connect it up.
Cant seem to get one from local factors, so may have to try VX. I took the broken one out and it dropped behind the alternator. No danger of getting it out so it will stay there. Just means i wont get the engine started now until i get a new one.
And its a holiday weekend. :cry:

Most of the engine is connected back up, but i have yet to get underneath as it was raining today. Thats the bit i'm not looking forward to as there isnt much room, and a couple of the nuts cant be seen by the eye, just have to try and feel.
Love to meet the bugger who came up with that design.

So looks like i'm carless for the weekend.

Tried that bud, and a couple of screwdrivers. It seems to be jammed and i can only see a small part of it. Dont know how the hell it managed to get where it is. :shock:

Keith, could you fashion a very narrow pipe and connect that to a vacuum cleaner hose and draw it out? (Put nylon mesh or similar over the end of the "new" hose to prevent the vacuum cleaner eating it).

Nah Dave, the bugger is solid mate. I think the only way to retrieve it will be to remove the alternator.
And thats not happening.

How about one of those things with the retractable claw?

Can I take it that the alternator is a nightmare to remove then ?

Screwdriver with a blob of supaglue on the end, push it on, let it set and then give it a try...can always scrape the glue off afterwards...

Could you not dangle one of these over the engine to reach in for you :lol:

Surely they are a generic part, not exclusive to the Fronty...whats the part number for it mate?

Thats what i was asking for mate, as the 2 local factors dont have anything on it.
Phoned Robbie and he got his from a factor near him, so they must be available.
