Im in wholehearted agreement with you Greg...

I get 30ish MPG on a run and about 25 locally and I live in a rural area. I go laning about once or twice a month and that is far more entertaining then spending the £60 or so on beer. Particularly as I get to see my frontera buddies at the same time.

I absorb the cost of fuel as I have absorbed the cost of tobacco. If its something you want to do then you will find a way to do it or make sacrifices elsewhere.
I have a toyota Celica I keep threatening to get back on the road as a day to day car with the justification that the money I save in fuel will recoup the cost of a second insurance policy and road tax for normal day to day driving but The money is better spent in my opinion in making the frontera a more capable vehicle.

MPG pfffft..... a 2.4 LWB soon kills that off but hell.. what the smeg!

I have 4 vehicles, a 2.4 LWB, a 2.0 SWB, a 1.2 Corsa and a 2.0 vectra... I have to cut the amount of vehicles i own so 2 must go.

Now i could ditch the fronteras, the most expensive and least economical. Now that'd be the sensible thing to do...

Ah at last someone who really wants to bandy words. Lord be praised he really is on our side. As I said to Mercer this very evening; we are not ex-pats but poll tax refugees.

I think its been mentioned already but if my tyre pressures get low(frequent like they need pumping up every week well two of them do because the alloys are leaking I think) it really pushes up the fuel consumption and it feels sluggish as well. Yes its possible for a 2.3 to feel sluggish,It was positively skittish the other night and I was so excited then I looked at the fuel guage....empty

I don't like Tubeless tyres! If you corner on the limit, air leaks. If you nudge a curb, air leaks. If you climb a rock, air leaks.
Even if you inflate with nitrogen all these things happen. Me I try to be belt and braces when it comes to my only connection with the ground. Tube them all; cheaper than Tyreweld as for a 4x4 you need at least six of them just to do four tyres then there's the spares so that's nine.
Tubless tyres save the car manufacturers a lot of money as it is one less operation.
Tube them all, tube them all, the long and the short and the tall.
SLAP! OUCH!
