All the updated dash ones have drivers airbags, passenger bag I think where optional, and all later ones have leccy windows.

4x el windows is quite easy upgrade - similiar to one on cav, some later models MAY have el windows fitted allround, not sure here tho

Yeah i was reading somthing about the 2.5 today on the site saying the 2.5 and 2.8 is sort of the same BUT the 2.5 has more wiring around the engine eg more things to go wrong and the 2.8 hasnt and was basically bomb proof.
I would like the td but i know nothing about them, so if anything went wrong i wouldnt know what to do or where to start

With the exception of a Daihatsu Fourtrack, my Frontera was the first diesel I've owned and maintained.

After 5 years of ownership, I took on an engine transplant !!!

You'll learn and with lots of help available through FOG, you'll be able to tackle most jobs.

Thats true. I started out on a 1.6 8v then worked my way all the way up the cavaliers and vectras to my V6 and done all the work on my own with the help from my best pal. Weve done about 6 engine swaps too. It was only the other month we put a f23 gear box into my V6 and the engine had to come out for that and that was the first time we have worked on a V6.

cav i'd buy the 2.8 0r the 2.3
2.3 is sluggish but with a decent tool kit & all the help from fog, most of it is fixable yourself & if you can work on a v6 you will be able to work on one of them as there not so complex,i've read up on the 2.5 too & wouldnt buy one to complex......what you gotta think is a fronty isnt a speed machine anyhow & i gotta say i used to own a 2.8 trooper only thing i miss against my 2.3 fronty is the accelaration other than that nothing coz frontys like troopers aint really made for speed.

mind saying all that if the 2.2 petrol will do 28mpg as drift says, then thats as good or better than a 2.3 td,think the 2.8 can do upto 40mpg
my frontera 2.3 td is a slug in snails clothing ha

Well, so I believe we have got only 2 options - 2.5TD and 2.2 Petrol.. Petrol will give you lower mpg, but its quiet, easier to work with (very similiar to x20xev from cavs / calibra / vectra / omega) and easy to work with. And at some point can be LPG-ed.

Transglobe as you will get many toys and thats you

Any other ideas guys?

sorry cav, drift corrected me a 2.8 does approx 30 mpg,so i think with the price of diesel at the moment (its not gonna get any better) i would be swayed to the 2.2 petrol as pauls_cav said you can always convert to lpg at a latter date or even better buy one all ready done
